RCZ R vs M235i

So..... local pricing of the M235i was released today.... and its cheaper than early indications of what the RCZ R will cost. You all know I am a big RCZ R fanboy but its going to be damn hard to walk past the BMW dealership to sign for a more expensive and slower car from peugeot :crazy:

What do you guys think? Coupe vs Coupe

As speed is of no importance to me, looks being a very important criteria, then given the options here, it would have to be the RCZ R every time.

I must agree, the R is much better looking than the Beemer...

I hardly believe the price for the beemer is still lower or the same as for the RCZ R by the time you tick all those toys on the price list.

the big difference is with the companies. No one ever pays list for a BMW. Before a few essentials are ticked it can often be 5-10% above the base lline. Likewise even with the R no one should really be expecting to pay book for their new RCZ's

Theres even one or two ex demos cropping up circa £27k already.

So you saying, people are willing to pay more for a BMW and less for a Peugeot than their respective list prices? LOL!

Lets put it like this, at current exchange, the RCZ R will be R600 000 (thats South African Rands). A base 235i is selling for R514k. With Harmon Kardon sound and xenons coming to +- R20k you can get a well specced 235i for about 5% cheaper than the R.

When the time comes I reckon I will have to wait and see if my head or my heart dictates the purchase.

Looks like I need to move to SA then if its cheaper! I love the 235i

An Audi S3 here costs more than the RCZ-R :lol: and the base M235i costs £4,000 more than the RCZ-R (8% more)

No dude, both Peugeot and Citroen South Africa are smoking their socks. Peugeot were selling MK1 RCZ for R435 000, a month later they were giving them away brand new for R300 000.... Now they selling 156's for R490 000...

Citroen tried to sell DS3 R's for R400k.... At the time, same price as a Golf\Scirocco R...

The 235 now has a LSD that the 135 hasnt so even more side ways fun.

It is a bit of a tough call to go between the 235i and the RCZ R indeed. I swung by the BMW dealership a few weeks ago and had a look at that 235i and it does look pretty neat. Altho it's not an eye-catcher at all beside some rarer cars.

I'm not so sure on either of them. None are absolute must-have cars to me, altho i would like to have a RWD car and there's not a whole lot of those lurking around unless you go seriously up in price range or go oldschool cars.

The BMW 135i over in the UK has been heavily discounted WHY they where Not shifting any, the same will happen to the 235i they are gas guzzlers "You can quote me such and such MPG" but get behind the wheel of this type of car you will be forever at the petrol pumps...they are expensive to run/insure/maintain,give me a "God forgive me" a 235d/230d...but these wont be discounted in the uk if they make a appearance....for example l could lease a BMW 135i..xenons..etc for £20/month less than a 156 rcz gt :shock: Same goes for the new Golf R £289/MONTH

Ps looking at that photo it just looks like a plump old 3 series coupe :eusa-think:

I do think bmw want to recapture the spirit of the old e36 m3 with the 235 and thats the main appeal for me. I dont think they wanted to revolutionise with the 235, more like rekindle sheer driving pleasure.

Will wait for final RCZ R pricing before making up my mind.
