The RCZ R is the start of things to come, i love the look of the 308 R it has the same engine , the dash is superb.
It looks very different from the normal 308 , the RCZ doesn't look different enough?

Imagine this interior with red stitched bucket seats?

To be honest I don't think I would buy one, not at the price they are asking so say.
Having had 3 RCZs at near enough top spec I think you can get a lot more for 32K

I think Peugeot still need to improve on the features of the RCZ GTI ie push button start, a better sat nav system, stop start etc,etc

Who noticed the 308 R rev counter running anti-clockwise?
I've driven a 308 in real life and it's not as weird as you might think that. I thought i would absolutely hate it but you get used to it.
Also i'm getting more and more fond of that 308 R thing. I want one! In red!

Rather a mixed bag of a review in all honesty. A couple of potentially worrying issues are highlighted. Would still love a shot and finding out first hand. *hint hint*

Harsh ride is not an issue, its an inherent feature of a performance based suspension. Think JCW mini, RS Megane, Civic Type R Championship edition, Clio RS etc etc. Even my dad G37 Coupe is rock hard! Why would you buy a car worked on by Peugeot Sport for ride comfort? If you buy an R Performance coupe that flops around the corners like a wet towel you will end up with the same rubbish as what peugeot called the 308 GTI... buy american if you want a wallowy ship.

What other issues did you pick up?

I think your find Tomas they call it progress! And no it's not effin difficult to turn a key as you so say! but unlike you I don't wish to be a dinorsaur and like to go with the times and advancements.
But I respect your comments shame you can't respect other peoples

Not sure I agree about the start button.
The systems I've heard of still require some type of key so the button only makes things more difficult.
My father's 30 years old John Deere tractor has a start button...
And then there's these remote keyless entry systems which apparently are easy to hack making it easy to steal your car.
I can do very well without any of that.

If you want to pose with buttons and pretty sat nav, buy an slk. If you want a performance coupe, buy a R.

I dont think you've got bad ideas but they must be options in the standard RCZ range. Dont care much for creature comforts in the R version.

Yes Max...if you are buying a stripped out track based racer...NOT if you're buying a performance GT style motor. This is not the former nor is it directly marketed as one.

Other issues could include the ones listed in the review found here:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/peugeot/rc ... z-r-review

In case you don't have time to read it or can't access it. They highlight the following;

" the numb steering and firm setup might make it a handful in the UK, and the dated cabin could also put some buyers off"

" the hefty steering is quite slow to react, and while there is an enormous amount of grip, sometimes it’s tricky to know exactly what the front wheels are up to. The stiffer springs and the 10mm drop in ride height can throw you off course if you hit bumps in the road or adverse cambers – something which might be a bigger issue on UK roads."

" Some of the dash materials and climate controls feel a little outdated though, especially compared with the sleek, minimalist cabin from the new 308. The driving position is hampered slightly by the high clutch pedal, and even kids are unlikely to want to travel in the tiny back seats on longer journeys but the spacious boot means this RCZ is still a decent GT car - so buyers looking for a turly focussed track car might be dissappointed." (The latter is what I alluded to earlier.)

Now...you have asked me to post the potential negatives/criticisms and I am not disregarding the many impressive things about the new R (and there are many) but am merely providing the response that you requested so please try and view it objectively before responding.

Thanks, thats exactly what I asked for. I didnt miss those items, just regarded them as so trivial that i didnt even remember them. Reviewer couldnt be bothered much either as he still scored the R 4 out of 5

Love how jassy only likes the posts with negative comments in them. Amazing how one can troll without even making a post. Truly remarkable!

Problem i found was i don't want the hard suspension all the time, when track daying or whizzing about that fine, but it became tiresome when on some A roads and B roads when i didn't, I don't want to feel the bumps in the road all the time?
Its a everyday car not an out and out racer.
Audi seem to have got it right with their magnetic ride, hard suspension when you want it but not all the time, blooming expensive tho

Yeah absolutely. Its not everyone's cup of tea and I honestly dont think they are expecting the R to canabalise diesel or 156 owners. Probable even 200 owners would opt to retain their softer ride.

I am still young so turbo whoosh and noisy exhausts > ride comfort

Sound is good its just they have to amplify it into the cabin for you to hear it, they do the same of the Focus ST.
Silly thing is i have had aftermarket cans on the bikes i have owned ( RSV you could hear over 1/4 mile away) and yet i wore earplugs !!!!!
I suppose you buy a car for what you intend it for and not a compromise?

Yeah still young with a lot learn and not everyone is Vin diesel or Mad Max driving around in a Too fast Too Furious EVOVIII or a interceptor. You need to understand not everyone wants what you think they should have ie the Rcz R ,no doubt a good car ,buts it's not the best nowhere close ,as you seem to preach

If the RCZR becomes popular maybe this forum will give it a sub forum where you can brain wash each other into thinking its the next best thing to the Nissan GTR

I personally wouldn't regard "numb" steering as trivial on a sporty GT coming in around 32k. However, I would agree that the overall picture and initial responses seem to be positive which is encouraging.

Autocar are pretty positive?

http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/peu ... ive-review

This made me laugh tho?

"The suspension is fundamentally unchanged but the springs are stiffer, the dampers of a higher specification, the anti-roll bars beefier and, best of all, there's a new Torsen differential at the front to ensure that most, if not all of those 266 horses don't go galloping off down the road unchecked.

The R also rides 10mm lower than normal and has wider tracks front and rear, more aggressive camber settings at the front and bigger brake discs at both ends"

The suspension is fundamentally unchanged!!!! apart from all the other changes they have listed!!
" Yeah but what else have the Romans done for us" LOL
