Talking about parts the price of genuine front discs continue to rise.

RRP is now £674 per disc and Fish Brothers have them for £560 each. £1120 for a pair of brake discs. 😭

Price worth paying in my view for superb brakes, no price difference compared to any other marque.

Start worrying when they are not available anymore like the headlights, meanwhile I would stock up, buy extra before they become obsolete. I am sure the alloys will go the same way.

A few years ago I'm sure they were as low as £650. Every time I double check they have gone up in price. £1348 RRP is very expensive. So is £1120.

You can get two piece floating Brembo brakes for a Nissan GTR for half the price. Genuine Audi RS3 2 piece discs are less than half the price.

Time for a change now Kerr, running a R as a daily is financial stupidity. Collectors car with low mileage absolutely, but the Z is no 205 GTI in terms of future value.

I miss my R in a way, not sure why, but when I sold we used the money to buy the required grandchild chariot, the rest I used to buy a genuine 1 owner TTS Mk 2, for little money I may add, it’s faster and cheaper to run, plus it’s a nicer place to be at the wheel.

I will always for some weird reason fight a corner for the R, but to me it’s a track car, and just doesn’t do everything good on a daily basis, clutch pedal position on the right hand drive car takes away what a great car it should be.

Apart from the very expensive brakes most of the running costs of the R are fine. Many cars run 19" tyres, servicing isn't too bad, road tax is fine, insurance is low, and fuel economy can be really good if you're driving normally.

A proper track car is a lot more focussed than the R. A track car isn't good on the road for normal driving.

My daily at the moment is a little BMW i3. I thought I'd have a laugh and try a little EV. My partner had free charging at her work so I thought I'd give it a bash.

It's an older one with the range extender. For a short commuter or town/city car it really works. It so easy to jump in and out, great visibility and tiny turning circle.

It's also nippy up to about 50mph.
