Just to throw in my two pence worth. Surely you would expect any Peugeot main dealer to be able to service any variant of any model that Peugeot have produced. If they can't, they may as well not exist. The question about recommending one regards servicing an R is irrelevant, they all should be able to fully service and carry out any repairs. It would seem the question is raised based on a matter of lack of trust. Personally I use my local independent who has been servicing and repairing all my vehicles for nearly 10 yrs. Not that I don't trust main dealers, it is a matter of cost, why pay more when you don't have to for the same level of service?

I'm really not sure what point you're trying to make here. Your initial point about buying a car from a (presumably non-franchised) retailer and finding out that it hadn't been correctly serviced seems to support my choice not to touch a car without a full main-dealer service history.

As a Chartered Engineer, I've seen too many "enthusiastic amateurs" who think that they know what they are doing, but who actually have limited knowledge, training and ability, and who do not have access to any of the equipment, diagnostics, failure data, service bulletins or other resources which a main dealer does. So I'm afraid that I will never be buying your car.

As for your final point,, are you saying that you have a prejudice against poor people???

You've now posted 3 times in the thread, so I really am looking forward to your answer to the question that I actually asked, which is about which PEUGEOT MAIN DEALER in Hampshire you would recommend to service an RCZ R. If you want to continue to discuss why Dave-under-the-arches can do a great service on your car for fifty quid, then I suggest that you start your own thread to do so.
If you can.t be bothered to find a decent Peugeot Garage or any other reputable service Centre to fix your car then why bother asking us to find one for you & regarding your engineering background I've worked for Qualified professional people living in very expensive houses who couldn.t knock a nail straight in a piece of wood ! funny old world innit old bean

The misconception buying or getting serviced at a main dealer means better care is rife. If I had £1 from every person who paid a premium for an AUC only to find it had been written off, suffered major damage, missed services, poor condition or had major faults that should have been found in basic checks I'd be very rich.

Unless you think that £0 is "very rich", you really are deluded. No franchised dealer would last any time in business if they did any of those things . Not only would they see their reputation in tatters, and lose their franchise, but they would also be subject to prosecution.

I bought a second-hand Lexus from a main dealer in Wolverhampton in 2014. Never saw them again, as I had it serviced at a Lexus dealer closer to home. In 2018, I noticed a very unusual issue with the car that had been there when I bought it. One phone call to the supplying dealership and they agreed to pay the full costs of my local dealer rectifying it. Try to get that sort of product support from a non-franchised dealer.

You didn't answer the question why finding fault with main dealers said more about me. I'm going to ask you to elaborate on that again?

Only that if you interacted with those dealers in the same way that you appear to interact on this forum, then I'm not surprised that you may not have received the best quality of service from them.

Any BMW dealer can service an M-Power car, but some of the dealerships have invested further in training and equipment, and are specialists in those cars. I always used them to get my cars serviced. The same is true for Porsche dealerships and RS specialists. Hence I was wondering whether Peugeot (which is a marque that I am new to) also had some dealers who specialised in R cars.

Because I thought that people on an RCZ forum may have been able to recommend particular dealerships where they have had good (or bad) experiences. Do you understand how forums work?

You clearly don't understand the difference between an engineer and a mechanic or technician. I'm also curious as to the relevance of the cost of their houses...

You call me deluded, but you don't have a clue. Your naivety is staggering.

You honestly believe every car a main dealer sells is 100% genuine? You believe they carry out servicing and repairs to a high standard without fail?

All those main dealers do exactly what I've said.
Even brand new cars turn up damage repaired. Your lack of knowledge/blind faith is why so many car dealers pull the stunts they do. Most of their customers lack the relevant knowledge, or care, and they get away with selling poor quality cars, or cutting corners at servicing and repairs.

I've twice had brand new cars turn up damaged. The Mercedes dealer put up a massive fight not to reject my A45 AMG. It took 7.5 months to finally resolve. Over on the Mercedes forums issues with the dealers was all too common. It's the same for all brands I've had.

I've walked away from many approved used car on a dealer forecourt due to poor condition and faults. I've travelled across the country to pick up cars from main dealers that I've promised are mint to find they are nothing of the sort.

I've travelled 6-7 hours to collect a car that the master technician went over with a fine tooth comb to make sure it was 100%. I didn't get out of the car park before hearing obvious mechanical faults. The car was all over the place on the road. It was dangerous.

I've caught out a BMW M dealer falsifying the AUC checklist to avoid replacing costly parts. I did report that to the dealer principal. He couldn't have cared less and I escalated it to BMW UK. Their response was it's up to the dealer what standards they adhere to.

Have a little look for websites like Vcheck or Dodgy Cars and see how many cars that have been involved in very bad accidents and have been insurance write offs. The car doesn't get logged as a write off and ends up back on the road badly repaired. These cars have been found at main dealers right through to supercar level. They've managed to pass all AUC checks when someone with basic knowledge would find fault.

There has been TV programmes about the above. You haven't seen anything like that?

There was a high profile incident just the other week. A well known car collector bought a BMW M2CS. The dealer knew the customer and the exposure he would get. He promised the car collector the car was mint.

The car was delivered on a trailer and as soon as it rolled off there was a catalogue of issues that a blind man would see. The car had been involved in a major accident and badly repaired. This was a £87,500 car a main BMW dealer sent to a high profile customer, one they knew would find faults and the garage's reputation would be at risk with bad service.

The garage then made stupid excuses that the car must have been damaged in transit. It had been damaged and repaired. It wasn't damaged between the dealer and customer as claimed. The dealer was also digging their heels in to refund the buyer. They were getting shamed over car forums and they still didn't care.

The way I interact? None of the issues I've had with cars has anything to do with how I interact with people. Most of the interactions I've had with dealers are fine. The quality of their workmanship and aftercare is a different matter. It says more about you that you jump to unfounded conclusions like that, especially with your condescending attitude openly on display here.

Good luck finding a Peugeot dealer.

My R has been to Fish Bros Swindon for the last 4 and a half years.
The dealership has team members who admire or own RCZ's.
I have had all of the usual issues fixed by them..Brakes, Fuel pump, etc... They have done all I can ask..

I can Guarantee that whoever services your car there will 2 components on the engine that will remain untouched as dealers or even a Indie servicer never ever bother to inspect them but they play a vital role in the function of the engines capability I wonder if you can guess which ones I'm talking about ??

I think from his attitude that we are dealing with a silly Billy here, every so often you get one. Just let him get on with it. I wouldn't bother continuing with this post, just let it fizzle out.

If you have no idea about the maximum performance & Functionality of the BMW prince Engines why bother buying the car?
A great deal of users on this Forum take time understand each other when we try & help with issues & a hell of a lot are competent with the mechanics of the RCZ but some Educated Know all types who come on here looking for pointers just bought their cars because they look good sitting on the drive!

I didn't buy the car - my wife did. The RCZ R, good and all as it is, wouldn't have been my personal choice.

And yes, she bought it on impulse because she liked the look of it (whereas I tend to do lots of research before buying cars). But it's her money, and it's up to her how she spends it.

The clue is its recommended after 35,000 Klm both should be cleaned as one gets oil mist covering the sensor & the other can become contaminated with particles of dust etc They are easy to remove & I have cleaned mine as it reached the suggested mileage if they are left for a higher mileage they can affect two vital functions & even cause throttle & idle issues with the obligatory money light appearing on the dash

Best. Thread. Ever! 🤣

Basically it comes down to this - so few R's were made, you would be lucky to find a Peugeot Main Dealer who's even seen one, never mind about be an expert on them!

So just pick one and and try your luck. The only certainty is their £105 per hour labour charge...

Can we keep it pleasant gents please?
I'm not sure we need to resort to insulting each other.

On topic, I can't recommend a Peugeot dealer. Both of the ones I've used were a bit useless.
One of which no longer exists.
Probably because they were a bit rubbish. It's not just Peugeot though, I bought my first 407 from a Vauxhall dealer, they were pretty useless too. They decided to wreck the locking bolts on the alloy wheels for me after changing the tyres. It also went in for a replacement dmf under warranty. I think they had it nearly a month. This was after I'd suggested I go to a Peugeot garage and they said it wasn't a problem for them to do it.

I've only used the Toyota dealer for my current car for a recall job, and parts. I service it myself. Mainly because the mechanic I've used for nearly 20 years has retired, I've not found anyone else I trust yet.

I gave you a clue & your almost on it so I will divulge their identity
The MAP "Manifold absolute pressure sensor" is prone to giving out varying data to the ECU over long period of time without cleaning (High Mileage) due to its constantly wet from Oil mist it can be cleaned with Brake cleaner or other suitable solvents
The MAF" Mass Airflow sensor" does becomes dry lined with dust etc so a blow out with a air line is sufficient to clean it properly

As for the above comments from our moderator yep its time to give Phillip's brain a rest & if he should need any Tech help we are happy to oblige plus his wife has excellent taste in iconic designs judging by her choice of cars ;)

There will be dealer mechanics who are excellent and some who are incompetent. The same goes for independant mechanics. The trick is to find the good one whichever way you go. Luckily for me, I've found a local independant who just works on Pugs and he's great. Personally, I like to find a good independent. You can talk about the car on a one to one basis and really get a handle on how they treat the car.

I was going to try booking my front brakes for the R a while ago since he deal was £199 for discs and pads. 😀
