Rcz protest.

Right, I've had enough of my rcz and its problems and more so with Peugeot customer service. Had problems since I the day I bought it. To cut a very very long story short it's just come back from Peugeot after another 3 week visit and broke down days later. Peugeot are being shit and not returning calls when promised. I've now reached the point that I'm considering sticking the car on the back of a truck and blocking the gates to head office in Coventry with a sign saying "if I can't get to work neither can you" I wonder if this will work? Anyone want to come and voice their problems or show support.

Hi PaulE,

God sounds like a living nightmare! The sooner you get a replacement car the better! Sounds like a right pig in a poke!
It's unbelievable to think that in this day and age a modern dealership can't sort out any problems on a modern car. My mate who has an independent auto workshop regularly gets cars in from main dealers who have had their "technicians" try and solve a cars problems only to to fail so they send em to him to sort which he does usually quite quickly. Problem is there are too many PC's (PART CHANGERS) who can't diagnose a problem and just keep changing parts until they get the right one or until the punters money or faith runs out!

Hope you get it sorted pal the RCZ is a super car it just sounds like you've had the worst luck ever!

Really bad. Last year, after replacing the brakes, I notice some knocks in the steering wheel. First diagnostic: steering rack need to be replaced: over one grand. I said: ok, them, do it, as my warranty should cover for it. Guess what: they decided to run more tests as it was an expensive repair, so need to be sure. If me, the bloody idiot customer was going to pay for the repair, yes, let's do it, but as was the insurance supplied by them: let's run more tests. 3 days without the car, no cortesy car, holiday cancelled, can't find any problem. "It's normal for the RCZ". So normal, but never had the problem before they replaced the brakes and God knows what else. After, when they returned the car, as far they kept the "no problems were found", as for some magic, the knocks and noises stoped. So now, how can I enjoy my car if I can't be 100% sure about the car condition's? As I said in another post: the dealers are the ones ruining any good experience you should have with ANY Peugeot car. Since them, I'm just using my car as I would use any other car, all the sparke is gone, just waiting the time to pass and choose something else.

Really feel for you...... :(
Apart from dragging the service manager over the counter by his ears I don't know what to suggest!

I went with literaly scaring the c**p out of the service manager (much to the amusement of the other staff)! It appears to have had the desired effect.

Thanks for the comments.

Just to clarify I'm way way way beyond dealing with Stoneacre Peugeot. I've been dealing with Peugeot UK for months now. I've slowly worked my way up the customer service food chain and I have to say they are all crap. Promised calls not made by management on several occasions. Spoke with them again today and and they were supposed to have sorted out an exchange vehicle but because they forgot to call me back on Friday the ones they had supposedly found have now gone.

I've now contacted several newspapers and my solicitor.

Seriously fed up with having the car just sat on my drive rotting away.

I'm disappointed and frustrated for you. I had a number of extremely unsatisfactory dealings with my local dealerships (plural as the one I ordered and bought the car from were terrible but the second one proved no better) but Peugeot UK always came through and were extremely supportive and pulled the dealerships into line.

Please don't read this as being in any way condescending but I would suggest that, if you haven't done so already, you put EVERYTHING into writing. Document it all and provide copies of all correspondence between you and the dealership. You need to create a paper trail. Ask for the name of the Head of Customer Services and send it directly to them. Be meticulous in your details and keep the tone measured but state in no uncertain terms your dissatisfaction and disappointment. Also go on to suggest reasonable compensation/the outcome that you would accept and request a timely response. This worked very well for me and for a number of other past members. At this point it's definitely a worthwhile exercise.

Good luck!!

In my opinion the worst is how hard is to get the dealer to sort simple problems. I don't think the RCZ is a problematic car. Maybe few people had lemons, but it happens. The faulty LED brake light and other minor faults, if the dealers managed to sort them out without all the headache, most of the owners would be happy to saty with Peugeot or going for more expensive models. They mistake the idea of the people buying the RCZ. It looks more expensive than actualy is, but still, isn't a cheap car and once you put your money into it, you expect to have a decent service from dealers/Peugeot.

I have to admit it - I love the idea of the pick up truck - DO IT !
Make sure it's on private land though.
Thankfully (touching wood) I have a Hdi that I am still (2 years down the line) over the moon with.
But if you cant get satisfaction you have to make a stand.
Please post photo's.

Thanks MrRizzle and everyone else for feedback.

I can confirm everything is in writing and I've been dealing with Peugeot UK for months now.

A few things I've not mentioned.

The cars been into 5 different dealerships including 1 in Spain and 1 in France and they still can't fix the problem.
It's had over 10 visits in total to Peugeot and although that may not be that many most of the visits were for a few days to a week at a time and up to 3 weeks.
The dealer agreed to swap the car prior to its last 3 week visit however the 2 cars they found were not the same spec. First was a swap for a diesel and if have to pay £6k towards it which was a joke as it was less than I'd get for a PX.
The second didn't have satnav so they offered me a tomtom instead. Sorry but that's not the same.
I've tried to be accomadating by saying I'd consider different colours and said I'd even contribute a small amount if I had to.
As they couldn't find one I agreed to let them have another go using a master tech. They had the car for three weeks did over 100 miles of road tests and charged me £200 for a new tyre as they said it had a nail in it. Uuuummmm.

I cleaned the car 2 days after getting it back and found they had broken the fuse box cover and one of the headlight brackets. I told Peugeot UK I wasn't happy and they said the dealer would be in touch. Yet nothing.
3 days after that the car stops again. Exactly the same problem.
Spoke with mgr I'd been dealing with at Peugeot UK who couldn't believe it and said would find another vehicle. That was 8 days ago.
I was supposed to get a call on Friday from a snr mgr but didn't, again on Monday but didn't. Spoke with the mgr I'd been dealing with yesterday who was apologetic but I've had enough of apologies. As they didn't get back to me when they were supposed to the cars they were planning to swap mine for had all gone to auction.
Please don't think I'm just having a moan. I've actually worked in the Motortrade for 18 years and have been on both sides of issues but never experienced anything like this in my life.

Let's see what today brings.

I really hope you get the result you are wanting in this matter. The RCZ is a fantastic car, and it is such a shame that you have had such a terrible experience with one.
I hope when you eventually get your replacement car that you haven't been put off by the previous experience, and that you can actually enjoy your new car for what it is.

It might be an idea once your duff motor has gone for you to post the reg. no. So if anyone is thinking of buying another Z they can be aware of which one to swerve.

Good luck, and let's hope for a positive outcome very soon.

Thanks DKZ and will post reg after its all sorted and Peugeot have it back. Both someone at the dealer purchased from and another dealer have called it a lemon. Something else I forgot to mention is all the weeks it's just had to sit on the drive waiting to be collected or for Peugeot to decide what's going to happen next. I've sorted out a trailer and just need to borrow a tow vehicle now o get my car to head office in Coventry from Cheshire.

On an interesting note I've found out that Robins and Day Peugeot is actually peugeots own retail group,so I'd recommend using them if you have one near you. The one in Manchester have lent me a Peugeot 308 GT line which is ok but if I'd wanted a normal boring car I'd have bought a TT.

H something else that pissed me off with Stoneacre Peugeot was when I last called to say it had broken down again after them having it for three weeks and the conversation went as follows.

ME: This is Mr Elliott with the black Peugeot RCZ I've collected after 3 weeks.
Reception: Oh hello mr Elliott how can I help.
ME: It's broke down yest again.
Reception: hahahhahahahaah.
ME: it's not funny.
Reception: no your right it's not.
ME: so why are you laughing.
Reception: errrrmmm sorry.
ME: can you put me through to Darren (service mgr)
Reception: sorry he's busy with a customer, I will have him call you as soon as he's finished.
ME: make sure he does. Bye.

9 days later nothing from dealer. Surprise.

I'm now sat waiting for a call from Peugeot UK to oust likely tell me they havent found a replacement yet. I can't believe Peugeot can't find a Peugeot. It's a joke.

What a joke. Supposed to again have received a call from the customer service manager dealing with it and no call. I'm sure if I just kept the courtesy car and didn't return calls they would do sometching about it.

Probably time to invoke the Sale of Goods and Servives Act 1974 (as amended), giving them 14 days, in writing, to propose an adequate resolution before you start proceedings in the small claims court. Copy Peugeot UK, too - although remember your contract is with the dealer, not Peugeot.

Worked for me once, when I got a new replacement car after the dealer involved did not transmit/check the factory order, so the car turned up with an option missing (hi-fi sound system).

Worked for a work colleague of mine who eventually got his selling dealer to pay another dealer to fix his car after he lost confidence in their abilities completely. That one did actually have to go to court because the dealer just couldn't believe he was so liable. If I remember the story right, the dealer didn't bother to turn up. Needless to say, the presiding magistrate took a dim view of that.

Here we go, this is going to be my final post on this for a while as I will explain.

I've just had a call from Peugeot UK who have informed me that Stoneacre Peugeot are now no longer willing to exchange the vehicle (probably because they know they can't fix it). Peugeot UK have told me they can not force them too however have offered me £1500 contribution towards an exchange vehicle however I can't PX my vehicle until it's fixed?????? If it was fixed I wouldn't have a problem.

I've now spoken with my solicitor who believes we have very strong grounds for "rejecting the goods".

I advise all Peugeot owners to avoid Stoneacre Peugeot. They really are the pits.

If I were you I would email Stoneacre directly once more (with the full email correspondence chain in your message) telling them how disgusted you are in their lack of customer service and CC Peugeot HQ and BBC Watchdog into that email as well and see what happens. In my experience the thought of all that potential bad publicity can work wonders. Good luck.

It would be very interesting to see the reasons behind their change of decision.

Either the car can't be fixed in a reasonable time frame, so an alternative option must be sought (replacement car) or it can, in which case it should be permanently fixed,

They can't agree that they can't fix it & offer a replacement, then change their minds.

As someone posted, sale of goods act, you have them all the way to the bank, full refund & they can collect the car.

They must really think you are stupid if they think you are just going to give up & say oh alright I'll keep it even though I can't drive it.

Stick with it mate, you will get there, but you shouldn't have had to go through this to do so.

Thanks for the further replies.

Had a call from Stoneacre Peugeot service dept today regarding the parts they broke last time they had the car (headlight bracket and fuse box cover) and the fact the car broke down again. It's been 2 weeks since I called them and their excuse for not returning calls was the fact they had the wrong number. Strange considering they have called me several times when they wanted to fit a new tyre or tell me the car wasn't ready.

Anyway they want me to take the car to them so they can look at the light and fuse box. How can I when the car keeps braking down (40 miles each way). They would then order the parts if they agree which would mean another 80 mile round trip plus time off work.

I'm waiting to hear from my solicitor as to weather or not I should and them pics of the damage or just cease all communication until we get to court.
