Treated myself to one for valentine's day. Petrol GT
broke twice in a week....coil pack and fuel pump. luckily paid for by the dealer as under warranty.
not a good start :| are they plagued?? lol

The previous owner probably traded it in because they were having problems. The fuel pump isn't a cheap job at dealer prices. It's a common problem.

Coil packs are also a common failure, but they are £20 each.

Hopefully that's the end of your issues.

Coil packs are easy to change, and to be fair if one has gone it wouldn't be too expensive to do all 4 at the same time. Literally a couple of minutes to do.

Unfortunately the petrols are prone to the odd issue, as you've discovered.
Coil packs, timing chain issues, carbon build up, High pressure fuel pumps.
