RCZ HDI Quad exhaust and Air Filter Question

Hi Guys,

Brand new to the forum and the world of cars picking up my Amber red HDI RCZ next friday I already have a few plans of what i want to do to it.

Firstly I want to get a quad exhaust fitted is this possible on a diesel variant as i don't see many posts about it? I live in the West Midlands does anybody have anywhere good to recommend, from my research unique exhausts (Powerflow) seems my best bet, what are your thoughts?

Secondly I want to replace the air filter aswell and i plan to get the car remapped, I can't seem to find any filters for the diesel version either, do they not exist?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. :beer: :beer:

Yes quads are available so are many other things.

Have a look at one of the forum sponsors. He also has a rcz as well (although petrol), and is very active on here as well.
Super helpful if you have any queries.
He has setup a site that basically has what is available for the rcz in one place. Items are being added all the time.

Yes I have had a look on that website at everything, no mention of an air filter for the HDI version .

That is a nice system and sounds pretty good. However we only sell either direct replacement panel filters or induction kits that have been tested successfully on the RCZ by the manufacturer, as we do not want to sell any products that have not been tested as that could cause problems to the car (although we do mention that our parts are all sold as is under the T&C's). The item you are looking at is a universal kit and although it seems to work on the RCZ it does not mean it is for the RCZ. But with that said, let us all know if you end-up getting it and how it goes. Include installation process so that if it is viable for others to use they can see if they want to take on the installation.

I have the quad mod.. the best mod that anyone can do to the rcz in my opinion.. do these air filters actually do anything other than in the mind of the owner??I need convincing, and not anyone saying in produces a next to nothing power increase. :eusa-shhh:

The uprated air filter often works with other mods to give a better gain, but on its own, its often nominal. My own personal experience was that when I bought my car, it produced 156bhp (for the HDi :wtf: ) and it was completely standard.
When I went back a year later, I had a new filter, a new backbox (Which I dont think would do anything power wise), and a full tank of Nitro+ Diesel. The power from those runs were 166bhp.

So you can look at that how you want, either its a 10bhp power increase, or a 3bhp increase and something was causing it to be down on power when I bought it. No-one knows for sure.

I presume that is was on a rolling road?Once you factor in the price of the filter and the tests, i dont think the gain is cost effective.The quad tips sure finish off the car though and i recommend to all on the forum. :thumbup:

I dont factor in the rolling road costs for me as it was a day out with another car club and not to test out the mods, but I agree its not worth it just to see if the filter gives any power.

As Abzynthe stated, installing a performance filter will provide little to no performance gain although it does provide a better filtration for incoming air, and when used along with other modifications a performance filter will aid in in power gains where as a stock filter will not do this. So even for better air filtration for any car whether you do any other modifications or not, adding a performance filter is still a great upgrade to do.

There is a gain whether that be better air filtering, performance or both, if not then it would make no sense whatsoever to replace the factory filter in any car for any reason. But for those of us that have been modifying cars for years, the filter is usually the first thing to do even if it is the only thing. So installing an after-market filter in most cases will be in your mind as a good choice.
