RCZ detailing

I've been a bit quiet on here recently with the chaos that was Christmas and New Year!!

In October I treated myself to an early Christmas present and decided to book my RCZ to bedetailed in late Jan while I am away on a mini break. Only two weeks to go now and I cannot wait!
I have decided to go all out, getting an "Enhancement detail", all four alloy refurbs and to top it all off a Modesta BC-03 protective layer coating too. I have also bought some black Alloygators and they are being fitted after the alloys have been refurbed for free (I say free, the whole cost is just under my monthly mortgage cost....)

Amazingly enough mine will be the first RCZ he has worked on so I am looking forward to seeing the correction pics going up on their Facebook and twitter pages whilst I am away, not to mention collecting her when I get back! I will probably do a mammoth photo session the next day providing it isn't hoofing it down, in which case I will do a video to show the Modesta in action!

Sorry I don't have any pics just yet, I'm just far too excited to keep it to myself for another couple of weeks!

I look forward to seeing ALL the photos. I'm sure it will look stunning and interested to see the Modesta in action

Can you get some close ups of the alloygators as I'd be interested to see what they look like. Thanks :)

Of course Kerry, I will probably take some from the companies fb page as they do a good 50:50 before/after the 1 stage paint enhancement (as opposed to the 3 stage enhancement for an extra £200+)
here is an example of that, apologies if the link doesn't work properly though https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid ... =1&theater

Will definitely get the pressure washer out to test the Modesta and get some close ups of the Alloygators, I have the black sortilege alloys on my dolphin blue, so the black Alloygators should look decent with them. It was a colleague who used to have a Mercedes who mentioned them to me, as his old alloys were diamond cut and set him back £200 per alloy :-/ I think £65 for a set of isn't too bad in that case!

And so she has been dropped off to be worked on over the weekend while I nip off to Hamburg for a few days. It sadly will be dark when I get back on Sunday, but Monday will be picture time.
Very very excited to get back to see the results :-D

Can't wait to see the results!! Are you off to Hamburg for pleasure or work? I hear that it's a pretty cool city so hope you get to see some it while you are there. Safe travels and be sure to post some pics of the newly detailed RCZ when the light allows it!!

And finally I have her back! In the end I couldn't collect her yesterday evening so I went this morning to pick her up. Well, what can I say other than I am absolutely delighted with the results.

Got off to a bad start by getting a tweet from Matt when I landed in Hamburg asking me to check my email as it needed urgent attention. The guy who did his alloy refurbs wasn't able to do them, but he had sourced someone else but it would cost an extra £50, but they did much more to the alloy "a powder coating service too, and includes acid stripping, shotblasting, then powder coating of the wheel, plus them being rebalanced with new wheel weights" Matt was so impressed with the results that he has changed his alloy refurb people and has had several enquiries since.

Matt also updated his companies Facebook page regularly with photo updates (and a couple of videos) of how the car was progressing too, hopefully the following link will work, if not then those Facebookers amongst us can search for Magic Detail. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Magic-De ... 04?fref=ts For those who don't use Facebook I have taken the pictures Matt took from that page and posted them below (with a few of my own too) If anyone in the North West is considering a detail I would highly recommend Matt and for those interested his company website is http://www.magicdetail.co.uk which gives you an idea of prices.

I opted for a Modesta BC-03 coating, which has a 3-10 year guarantee on it (likely be 3 for mine due to mileage and no garage) and I will take a video of the Karcher on it when I have gotten rid of this cold I have managed to get in Hamburg, absolutely nothing to do with drinking far too much while I was there... (It was a pleasure trip for a concert with my better half mrizzle, sadly due to the real feel temp of -20 very little sightseeing was done, we do plan to go in the summer when it is warmer though!!!!)

Absolutely breathtaking results and some spectacular reflections!! The refurbished alloy looks like new!! I'll be really interested to hear how the products hold up.

Glad that you had a great time in Germany...despite some bone chilling temperatures. Out of interest, who were you going to see?

Anyway, thanks for sharing the photos and I'll have a look at the Facebook page when I have an opportunity to later in the day.

Matt gave me a half hour brief when I collected the car today, showing what had been done and how best to keep it that way too  was very very impressed with the overall service.

The alloys come with a 12 month warranty. Interestingly enough I had bought some alloygators to be fitted, which the alloy refurbers wouldn't fit. They said that as you need to hammer them into place (after deflating the tyre) they can actually damage the alloy, which means if your next owner doesn't want them they will be stumped with a 4 alloy refurb cost! Currently undecided, but may just see me even more careful than usual when manoeuvring around town from now on ;-)

We went to see Scooter (my partner had already been to see them in Berlin, Munich and Stuttgart earlier in the month) but this was the last gig of the tour and the only one I could get to.

Thanks Kerry :)

I was a bit worried about the after care with Modesta, not wanting to damage it or reduce the life expectancy of it but Matt explained all that in great detail to me. Gladly it can't be chemically removed so if I used the Autosmart Tardis (I had half the road on the side of my car...) I wouldn't need to re-wax it or anything like that.

The only thing I need to triple check is the shampoo I use. The Modesta BC-03 is a glass-like coating and some shampoos will leave a coat over it (if that makes sense) making it less effective than it should be. I will be taking her back in the future for maintenance washes (fortunately not anywhere near as expensive) probably every 6-9 months in an attempt to keep her as sparkling as possible!! :-D

The TR was at the detailers place, my photos I took on my S4 are nowhere near as good, and need resizing etc etc so I decided to leave it with just those pics :) I didn't ask about the TR though :/

Yes I know what you mean about the shampoo. You need a pure shampoo without wax or gloss enhancers. Dodo Born To Be Mild or Car Chem Tailor Made shampoo are perfect.
