Recently offered (at a push) £11000 against a brandnew £28700 Seat Cupra 280
Needless to say I've still got the Z :eusa-think:

Yes i to have bin looking at the 280 Cupra superb car having owned a few cupra's in the past , if you then add the performance pack , racing seats etc you can get to 34k quite easy............. But seems now alot of the hot hatch market bench mark price is heading to the 30k mark.... :eusa-think:

£34 K is too much for a Seat or a Peugeot. You can get far more Prestigious vehicles for that type of money.

Yeah £28700 was for the standard pack Cupra 280, it was nice enough, but to be honest no where near worth this sort of money, pretty bland from the outside if I'm honest.

The wife could'nt actually believe I took the time to go look at it.

I know what you mean :), Just trying to be realistic. I had a 308 GT 175 before the RCZ. Loved it but it lost so much money and was really expensive to run.

To be honest I dont think I could take the part-ex financial hit at the moment anyway :eusa-think:

You take a big hit and still have to part with hard earned cash

Go for a used GTC VXR Jactac, it's what all the cool kids are driving! ;) A good fully specced example with Aero Kit (which is a must) can be found from anywhere between 17 - 19,000. That's 280BHP, 295lb ft of torque and an engine which under full acceleration is described by one journalist as, "a sound like a tornado trying to squeeze its way under a barn door. A tornado jet." :D Honestly you have to hear it...it's tremendous(ly) addictive!! Not only that but it'll dispatch 40-70mph in fourth gear in under 4 seconds and will take you from standing to 60 in slightly shy of 6 seconds. That's before I labour the exquisite HiPerStrut suspension, stunning looks and rather amazing LSD. C'mon...you know you're tempted!

not a good post mrizzle to promote another make on the rcz forum?? wouldnt advertise asda on the morrissons.
the post discusses the depreciation of our beloved RCZ not an advert board for another make, how ever good you feel it may be.

Diggerd

I take onboard the point that you're making Digger. I wouldn't say that I am actively promoting another make as such but merely highlighting to Jactac the other options that are available at lower cost than some that I know that he has investigated. I have, in earlier posts, already detailed my own experiences with the depreciation aspect of RCZ ownership. I am attempting to highlight that there are opportunities beyond the RCZ once some of us have been hit by depreciation. It'll also be those of us that bought new who will be most affected. However, I understand the point that you're making and perhaps it was misjudged. If so then I apologise.

thanks mrizzle. i understand. but i'm starting to get fed up of reading about mini's, vxr's and the like in threads meant for rcz problems, mods and the merits of our mark. the forum is well set up with a board to discuss the merits and flaws of other makes.

Diggerd :)

If you are choosing a car based on design then im afraid nothing else comes near the RCZ. There are lots of non descript cars out there, better horsepower etc but at the end of the day i think we all want to stand out from the boring designs of run of the mill cars eg stick a body kit on it etc..but it was initially designed as a boremobile and will always be as such. An example being a bloody scooby doo.A classic example of perhaps a potent car,but one hellish design both inside and out.Feel free to comment as usual.

Riz, I don't know jactac personally but from the impression I've gained of him from this forum your 'selling points' for the GTC VXR seem a bit off the mark as far as he's concerned! I still maintain that the cheapest and best thing he can do is hang on to his RCZ. Changing cars always means extra depreciation partly because you are normally paying extra for the new one and partly because you immediately lose the dealer's margin. Whatever the RCZ loses from now on will almost certainly be no more than anything else he might buy, dare I say especially a GTC VXR! By the way how many miles per gallon are you getting???

hanswuk, the post wasn't intended to be taken quite as seriously as I think some are taking it.

Doesn't matter what car you buy, be prepared that it will loose at least half its value after the three year mark :)

Bit touchy feely, feely :wtf: aint you not Diggerd chill man chill

RCZ Depreciation :eusa-think: RCZ are ten a penny now its a victim of its own good looks,it has uber looks but drives like a family saloon and has running costs to match a medium sized family hatchback plus its just a Peugeot add all of them factors in=the more RCZ's on the road,or on forecourts to be more precise will drive down used values.
l know most owners hold their RCZ in high esteem on this forum but in reality its just another car in the eyes of the motoring trade.

Rizz glad your enjoying the Beast
