My project car arrived last night and I must say overall I’m rather happy with the site unseen purchase. It’s a 2010 156 GT in silver grey with 142k miles on the clock. It’s stood for over three years since the MOT expired in 2019 was a clean bill of health. I was expecting way worse.

I bought it as a non runner but it starts and drives all be it not great. Got up to temp and held steady. No blue smoke from the exhaust at either start up, prolonged idle or revving. there is a puff of black smoke consistent with the codes below of running rich. The brakes are corroded but work and seemed to have cleaned up and there are no funny noises from the suspension.
So far I’ve done a code read and the list of codes is long but not too bad. Looks like some fuelling issues there.

P0327
P1303
P0087
P0172
P1675
P1336
P1337
P1339
P0268
P0303

the only electronic thing I can find which is not working is the rear spoiler. It’s stuck in the lower setting and the actuation tests are failing.

it should be fun and I hope this is of interest to some of you. I’ll definitely be asking for advice as I go along I imagine.

cheers

I've had P1336, P1337 when I replaced coil pack and plugs which probably weren't the real issue but they were due to be changed anyway then I got P0087 which tend to point to HPFP which I had refurbished. Touchwood so far it's been OK. I was going to replace the fuel filter but have not looked under the car (THP200) yet. Some people say it's in the fuel tank but the diagram suggests it's not. Good luck with the project!

There is no fuel filter on any of the European variants only on exports to hot climates

Quick update.. cleared out all the codes and only two came back initially.

P0087 and P0268.
Fuelling issue as suspected, will start with the fuel injector in cylinder 3. Not sure HPFP is at fault just yet

Another update. Cylinder 3 was down on compression so head off and found a burnt exhaust valve.

Can anyone recommend a decent place to recondition the head?

No external fuel filter on UK models only on some foreign cars where fuel quality could be an issue.
