Problem with Quads

Our RCZ has finally arrive at the dealership & am having quads fiited before we take delivery. But apparently, a previous RCZ owner who had quads fitted, had to take car back to dealership ( not ours ), because the bracket was'nt strong enough & the unit dropped. The dealership then took the car to a Body Shop in Andover, where they created a template for the cutting of the bumper & secured the unit with a different bracket.

Our car will now be taken up to Andover next week to the same Body Shop to have the quads fitted before we take delivery, as they seem to have pretty much perfected the technique. The first attempt apparently took them 6 hours, but now they can do them in 3! It will cost £480 ( parts, labour & travel) for the dealership to go up there, but at least we have the peace of mind to know it will be right & the cut will be symetrical, which concerned us slightly. We could have taken it up there ourselves for less, but it would only really save us about £50 & we would rather get it done before we get the car! :auto-car:

Hi robbo. The dealer we are buying the car from is WESTOVER/Christchurch-Dorset. This quad thing is a novelty to them, so they are really going the extra mile to sort it out for us, we're more than happy with them! :D

Just out of interest, which dealership in andover are you bringing it too? We started the Quad thing, and have done a few, but use an external bodyshop at the moment, well specialist who do most of it for us now. Quick and easy

Hi Southgate. Firstly I've got to say Thank You to you, because it was thanks to your post on the quads & the pictures of the white RCZ with them fitted, & the pictures of the installation, that was my inspiration so to speak!

Now to answer your question! Our dealership here in Christchurch, Dorset is taking our RCZ up to Andover this Wed, to what I suspect is the same bodyshop that you are refering to. Our dealership has been very interested in this since we enquired about it, & after I printed off copies of your installation pictures (do hope you dont mind),& showed them, they looked into it! Hense, they told us about the little gliche with the bracket & that you were using an outside bodyshop! So, it would very much sound like the same bodyshop, would'nt it! :eusa-think:

I'll post pictures of the car when we take delivery, hopefully Fri this week if our reg transfer goes through in time! But in the meantime, thanks again!

Glad to hear we could be of help. The bodyshop we use is fantastic, they did a really good job (The RCZ was one to a family member they did) and their work is top notch!! So its in very safe hands!

Martha, just spoken to your dealership, they couldnt find the number for the bodyshop. Looks like they are heading up there today for it.

I'm not sure exactly Southgate. They've told us today that it's going up on Wed, & after what you've said, I'm really hoping it is the same bodyshop you use, but seems odd they could'nt find the number! We just want it done properly!

We probably should have taken the car on a normal plate & then changed to private plate after, as it seems to take forever to get our hands on it...but hey, it's all good fun waiting............................not!!! :eusa-think:

Cheers

The only problem I can see is that when the engines running i will be obvious they are not connected..especially in colder weather !! Looks great when static but looks silly when driving. If I was behind a car and saw 2 pipes not porting gas I would be taking the mickey something chronic

Morning adrian.

Yes, that's a valid point, but my car is garaged & I go to work at 3.40am & rarely meet any other road users at that time in the morning. Also I followed my wife home 2 days ago at lunch time, after the RCZ (she was driving the RCZ), after it had been sat out on the road since 3.45am & the temp was -2.5degrees, & it was covered in frost. There was nothing even coming out of the 'real' one so it did'nt look odd at all'. And yesterday, we were behind what I can only describe as the tastiest Audi A4...all done up like a dogs dinner, that I've ever seen, & it had quads, of which only one side was emitting anything. We 'did'nt' take the micky, just admired & appreciated that he had a beautiful car!

To be honest, we would'nt give a toss if someone took the micky, he fact, depending on what he/she was driving, we may even think there was a green eyed monster in the car behind

Anyway, each to their own & all that! Dont you think it may just be a tad mean-spirited to take the micky out of someone, just coz they choose something you dont???????? :eusa-think:
