Previously loved RCZ on its way to me

Hi there.

Just agreed to purchase a 2010 RCZ GT 200bhp next Wednesday. Really looking forward to it as the car has a great spec and considerably lower mileage than the TT I just sold, which was 90k. The RCZ is only at 17K.

Had to go for 200bhp as the TT was a 225 Quattro "modern classic" and went like stink.

A bit nervous as I had a 406 coupe new many years ago, which had a number of issues. Whilst the TT was 14 years old it was in mint condition and I fettled it quite a bit. However I am told reliability has improved and given I plan to regularly drive from London to Devon I certainly hope so.

P.S. Am I the only sad Egyt that downloads and reads the manual before picking up the car?

Cheers

Andy

Hi Andthensome :greetings-wavingblue:

...and WELCOME also !! You going from one distinctive looking car to another I can see that you like your cars to stand out from the crowd AND one thing ALL past, present & future Z' owners agree on ,,and it is that the RCZ marks its own ground in a design conformist world ,,so much so that its shameless sensual silhouette flaunts itself like no other even when standing still highly detailed OR shamefully not.

,,AND the 'standing still' reference isn't intended to adversely concern you about Peugeot reliability which you mention blighted your previous relationship with your 406 Coupe' ..BEFORE i am now taken to the a French stream and strapped into the Forum 'ducking stool' to ascertain my allegiance to the captivating Z' that chose me, hear me out ......!! :eusa-whistle:

Enjoy the Forum as much as you'll later get to enjoy folk stoping and admiring your new ride

.the big blue (..a Forum back bencher who knows that the 'ducking stool' is a no win method of justice so I wish to simply say that; I own the car, the keyring and FOUR michelin pilot super sports lest I be judged !)

Hi

I hear what you say about the Peugeot my very first expensive well expensive to me at 3000 pound the car was a peugeot 309 red
All I had was issues after issue... that was like 20 years ago and I vowed to neaver get a French car ever

So here I am with my daughter of 12 years old who loves the Range Rover to bits that I have ...looking for a Secound car
Now me I am looking for something basic Mini Cooper s . Audi A3 . That kinda range . I need something economical but at the same time I like to be a bit diffrent . I had given my self a budget . For the Car ...looking for several weeks . I decided to go to a place called Wilsons .
Here I am looking at fiat 500 . Mini types . Nothing nothing nothing
Getting eeeeee get out of here at this point I see 3 RCZs lined up and I am like wowed really wowed
I have a good look around the price Double the my original budget ..I go home all I can bloody think about is RCZ RCZ so later that day I call ..Sunday the next day I head down there and take this little RCZ for a test drive .
First the salesman gets in the drivers seat says I drive down there and then pass car to yourself to drive all good we are on an industrial estate nice bit of quite road
Lol my daughter then looks at me and says daddy please don't drive fast :)
I just said see what happens
I get in the driving seat ,and I set the postion of the seat and I am likening what I see in front of me
So we start off I get the feel of the car for few mins . At this point I am sold sold sold it feel amazing it bumpy its tough , it's just bloody FUN and this is yes I and sold I want this ..At this point I give the RCZ some power to see and feel how she handles we hit a bend and pounded the throttle pounded even more on exit wow car just stuck don't get wrong was ARH where's the grip due the bumpyness but by god she kept to it . We came to a round about . Well poor sales man . Seconds later we back at the dealer ship I get out of the car and just said Yes this is my new car ..LEts sort this out . We do the deal my daughter is estatic This is good as normally its Range Rover Range Rover ...
Later that day my little girl explains to me that the poor sales man was very shaky when he got out if the car
Omg I really I did not notice due to excitement of this car er er I thinking did push this car a bit

On the safe side I now how this car handles .
I don't need speed but this has power and feels safe for this type of car

I am smitten the car is amazing in all aspect the shape the lines I just can not stop checking the car out
So much so the RCZ now takes the space in the garage and the range rover stays out side

So hoping you start having fun RCZ

Many thanks for all the support, I will post a photo when I get chance.

Pick the car up on Wednesday and have sorted out insurance and all the other gubbins. Just a bit nervous for some reason... This is definitely a second car as we have just replaced our other one, which was a Lexus to a Nissan Juke, primarily as my wifes car. (There good value, loaded with kit and distinctive with a personalisation pack). It's a shame I have to commute into London on the train for work, so I will only get to use the RCZ at weekends and perhaps the odd evening.

Any tips on how to keep a black car looking clean, apart from the obvious wash it daily. In all these years I have never had a black car, just the odd motorbike.

Also I have a small list of fettling items to attend to: - bulbs, boot mat, foot rest, rear seat protector and seat belt for tut Whippet. However the most important thing will be drive it and see if the dog hangs on in there...

Mine is charcoal grey, I washed it the other day, drove it to work and it was dirty again... The moral of the story is... you can't!

With regards to your bit - check out http://www.rczperformance.com/ (he's on the forum) if you haven't already. The Phillips bulbs are superb and I have also fitted the boot tray, click my sig if you want to see more...

Here we go with a picture... not perfect as taken in haste after its first "make it mine" wash and hoover:

New car mats on there way and I will hopefully get round to ordering a boot mat and foot rest next week. Also going to polish and wax it at the weekend, although in general it is in pretty good condition.

I have managed to clock 1000 miles in it already going backwards and forwards to Devon and really notice the Jekyll and Hyde nature. Calm and relaxing on the motorway and a bit of a laugh around the lanes and B roads. The TT could be a bit tiring as the roof always rattled and had heavier controls.

The active spoiler is fun and have already had some fun raising it at traffic lights. When am I going to grow up....
