Preparing for a trip?

OK, so you know I had the lovely puncture / blowout the other day ?
Well my new tyre arrived yesterday so I fitted it and then was in the process of putting all the stuff back in the boot, when I thought - have I got everything ? That prompted me to this posting - what do you need for a European trip?

Now Yes I have learned from my Croatia crisis at the checkpoint, so don't forget your papers !!
Insurance / driving license / reg docs / passport / dosh to pay any fines for forgetting the previous items - LOL.

Then a couple of things not shown here a alcohol tester / breathalyzer, GB badge but have I missed owt ? anything you lot can think of ?

I've got the Steam Iron - Like to keep our lass busy !!! :eusa-whistle:

Now before you ladies flood the forum ..... it was a joke - it's just a receptable for carrying all the bits. :thumbup:

Then this lot....

Hi-Viz vest for all passengers, bulb kit ( I know it's not for the Z but they're not gonna check ), fire extinguisher, stanley knife, tape inc electrical tape, twine / rope, tyre extending lever, bungee clips, assorted tie-wraps, multi-tool, toilet roll - you never know, jacking puck, jack + handle, wheelnut cap extractor, locking wheel nut and wheel socket, and finally here an old towel for hands and kneeling on.

not forgetting.... the obligatory Alcohol Anonymous air pump...

Now that's me - oh nearly forgot the Warning Triangle which is fastened with velcro under my boot lid.

But have I forgot anything ? What do you lot carry ?

I have a spare wheel but it only fits the back, what do any of you R owners do for the front ?

Yes, and that's a good point. Though I didn't mention it, I do have a first aid kit, and my warning triangle is under my boot, held with the velcro straps.

I've never actually broken down in all my years of driving. Some of which were in a Ford and a FIAT!

Not to mention the 5 Peugeots and 1 Citroen.

I once had a car die on me on the main Chesterfield roundabout at 8:30am on a wet Monday morning - it was a humbling experience which I would not wish to repeat.

Come to think of it that was a Pug too but it was only a cheap and cheerful 205 runabout. There wasn't much cheerfulness on that day though - from me or the several hundred annoyed commuters stuck behind me! :eusa-whistle: :?

My most unreliable car was an Audi 80. The first year I owned it I thought it was the best car I had ever owned, the second year, every trip was like playing Russian Roulette, you never quite knew if you were going to make it or not :wtf:

Agree. This motor is my first one where I have to carry oil for fill ups :roll:

That's a strange thing you two, I bought a gallon of oil for my R because I've had it a while and did 3800 miles on the Austria trip, so thought I'll need some..... checked the oil and it's not moved. I have never put any oil in it yet !

Yes I've had it serviced since and they changed the oil but not inbetween those 3800 miles - :crazy: :eusa-think:

My 200 GT uses oil. Probably the most of any car I’ve had. Regular top ups for me I’m afraid, although I have never carried oil round with me. I figure so long as I keep it topped up at home, if the level dropped off the scale on any trip I make, it would need garage attention anyway so while ever I have some at home, all is good. :thumbup:

I've never had to top mine up. It get's it's oil changed one a year and that's it.

I check mine regularly, but rarely top up.
I had to a Couple of times during the cold weather though.

First aid kit - which I think is mandatory in some countries.

Mine started to drink oil after about 50.000 miles on the ODO. But she drinks only when she struggles :lol: Means, only if I hurry her over those autobahns flat out. As long as I do the usual commuting, no oil consumption.

Swap the rear for front and then put the spare on rear.
