Hi everyone

I've been looking for a new car and came across the RCZ, what a looker. Drives quite nice too, going to see one on the weekend with a view to buy. Just wanted to know are there any common problems that are cropping up or are these cars reliable so far.

well ... take a look in the technical discussion subforum there was one main issue of corroding mirrors,,, but i thought that has already been rectified at the factory...

Glad to see a Carmarthenshire person on the forum,iv'e had my 200bhp RCZ for around 9mths Howard's Carmarthen,no real issues very good consumption i drive between Kidwelly and Carmarthen i average 37 to 38mpg however M4 will see over 40mpg,superb chassis better than my previous Mk5 Golf gti,i will add i have been a Golf Gti fan for years but when i saw the RCZ i fell in love,Golf is quicker mid range top end,my honest opinion wait till September there will be a slightly uprated engine on way rumours say 210bhp,i think the RCZ is a better car to the Golf but Peugeot need to not rest on their laurels and give the enthusiast the power it cries out for,200bhp is quite tame and this engine is so capable of more.
The 156 again in my opinion has a slightly more comfortable suspension and more user friendly,but will not match the superior 200 on the power front.

Thanks for the reply, I went to Howards a couple of weeks ago, seemed alright there. Any ideas on what their pricing in regards of servicing there is? Preferred Howards over Days Swansea from the little time I spent in each one. Off to England on Saturday to see one, i'm looking at the 156 engine, its enough power for me, but we'll see what happens.

Not 2 sure over servicing costs however did get a free 1k check which is standard on these cars,Phillips Bynea LLanelli ok,but both small Dealers and i did find neither one had much experience on the car and possibly a larger dealer would be better informed,however i was the first few buyers in Carmarthen so by now they would have improved,but no critisism overall,try Anthony Motors Aberystwyth,they seemed well informed when i was looking however the distance to great

If I do get it I think I'll stick with Llanelii or Carmarthen. Totally forgot that there was a dealership in Llanelli, it should be closer to the centre of town and not tucked away in Bynea. You enjoying your RCZ? I test drove one and thought it was bril, the depreciation is getting me but the RCZ shouldn't lose too much value should it?

Carmarthen is fine,but if you are going for part.ex get the price you want and perhaps shop around,if you go in with figures they will listen,i went to see them with figures from other garages and basically said to match or better it,and they did,i love the 200RCZ and consumption good,have a look at any Demos going in both dealers you may find a 156 but no doubt fully loaded,but you could be lucky,depreciation at the moment is ok,but its not a family based car and should keep its value well,i went for the Sport spec with graphite with dark grey alloys,looks very mean,but will recommend car and as said the other night im a Golf fan.

Well, I thought I'd give you all an update. As of this Saturday I will be an owner of a Dolphin RCZ, can't wait now!!!!

Well done :clap:bet you'r counting hours down,which type did you settle for 156/200 either one will be fine,what garage gave you the best deal or did you travel over the bridge,keep us updated and best of luck :thumbup:

2 days 11 hours and 40 mins!!!! Had to go over to the dark side to get the best deal. Its a year old GT 156 Dolphin Blue, Vision Pack, Media Nav thing, JBL system. Since i've bought this car i've seen an RCZ on the roadnow, where as i didn't see one before hand, and i must say it pretty darn good.

Don't think I can make that meet H12RPO, can't have any leave from work during the school summer holidays.

Welcome to the forum.

On another note there is the discussion around power upgrades. Peugeot will not put a larger engine in the RCZ. The way forward (and I agree coming down (though I still own it) from a 300BHP supercharged 3.0L V6) is smaller engines. New tax laws are being discussed and BHP will penalise you in the pocket, there is also talk that changes to a car must not only be notified to the insurers as a mandatory legal requirement but that they reassess / test the new emissions and performance with a view to increasing taxes on that vehicle. Also I have in the past worked on the alternative road tax system i.e. pay as you go....one thing that may have not been made public is that the database will know every journey made, what roads were used and time between checkpoints....one are looked at was then identifying speeders ...the horror would be that the whole of the uK becomes an average speed camera...trust me this is being worked on as we speak

I for one find the THP200 a great balance and is more fun than many other very fast cars I have had

I must admit, when I was back in UK about 3 weeks ago it was dreadfully boring to drive there. Cameras everywhere. I am back there again next week and downgraded my hire car to a small cheapo Focus as just not worth renting an Audi or BMW...or an RCZ for that matter! I admit I like to drive fast and enjoy tight bends and hills etc but in Southern England all the enjoyment of driving has been sucked out by cameras and the like. Pity.

Thanks for the comments, i've had the car for two days now and I LOVE IT!!!! Every time i'm in it I don't feel like stopping, I could drive all day in it. Did feel a little awkard in traffic today though when I was on stop, it felt like everyone was looking at me. One bloke who was in a queue next to me didn't move along with the traffic in his lane until I could drive on in my lane and another instance was when i was traveling in a line of traffic a van in front of me slowed down and let me pass him but didn't do it to the car that was behind me, he picked up speed and drove behind me. Aaaarrrggghhhh!!

But I must say it is gorgeous to drive and to look at, i'm chuffed.
