Hi All

Great to see such an 'enthusiastic' owners forum. Thought I'd register my interest here as looking to swap in my 06 2.2 diesel Civic against a RCZ and initially was very excited as just love the look of it but, the more I read around the web the more nervous I am getting that I might be making the wrong decision! :?

Took a test drive a couple of weeks ago and really like the car. All my previous cars prior to the Civic have been coupes (Mazda MX6, Toyota Celica, MGF 160 Trophy, Alfa GTV twin spark etc) and have to say for a two door there's an amazing amount of space in there (and a proper boot!).
Diesel figures look comparable to the civic (which I have to say has been a revelation as my first diesel!) so all good news as I cover about 20k a year and need something reliable.

However, I'm now coming across more than a few stories of failed clutches, rattling dashboards with rippling leather covers, failing radios, leaking door seals etc etc.

Have I just been unlucky in reading the most publisised tales or is the RCZ actually built to the same poor standards as most other Pugs???

Clearly having previously owned an MGF and an Alfa I'm used to owning cars with 'issues' :wtf: but really can't afford for this purchase to be spending time (and money) in the local garage or letting me down on my usual (240 mile) weekend commute so anything anyone can add to either quell my nerves or open my eyes would be much appreciated.

I'm not sure what you have been reading but I'm not aware of failed clutches, rippling leather failing radios or leaking door seals. In fact a common fault is hard to find. Door mirror retaining water is the only one that springs to mind. It is a well built car that looks good and drives even better. I have my second one on order and intend to keep it for longer than I normally do. I can't find fault with it. My only problem is that the media system is too technical for me to get the most out of it but that is not a reason to not own an RCZ.

Well I can see where you you got your doubts from. However I invite you to read this forum, as there are many owners and I don't believe a single bad review. In fact many like me absolutely love this car. I have only ever in my life bought one second hand car (this one) so I am used to new cars and I have always liked them, I love my RCZ like I have never loved a car before. It drives as though on rails, it pulls like a train, it does 50+ to the gallon, road tax is low, looks absolutely beautiful and is so comfortable with excellent viability (well compared to my previous car) It is in short the best car that I have ever owned. Mine is the 2.0 HDi GT in pearl white I have ordered the same again for a September delivery. If your pocket is deep enough (no offence intended) for overall performance the HDi I can recommend. Go for the Sat Nav option as it is far more than merely a Sat Nav, the sports pack gives you a smaller steering wheel and shorter gear stick (feels better to drive) Quad exhausts (looks sexy and balanced) vision pack for improved visibility on country lanes at night. I went for the full leather too but to be fair apart from the stitching being a different colour on the standard it is hard to spot the difference between the fake and the real leather.

Ive got the deisel RCZ and it is the best car I have ever owned (previously had Civc Type R)

On What Car yu tend to only get the people who have suffered a problem. This forum will be far more informative and balanced. Have a good read through all sections and you will find that there are very few problems - nothing major.
In fact, its a great car, the best I have owned.

Cheers all. Was beginning to think that I'd be spending the rest of my time try not to look at any more RCZs as the pain of ownership would outweigh the drop dead gorgeous look. Completely agree with most comments elsewhere on this and other sites that the RCZ makes many cars like the TT and Brera look positively mundane so really great to hear that ownership is as good as you all say.

hey,,, i guess you get the impression of many faults with it over there,,, kinda like the same as my dad..

my dad worked @ peug garage for 20+ years as head of the uhhhmmmmm,,, body shop????,,(carroserie for the dutchies)... he always been againgst (well not really against but weary (sp?))

because day in day out hes confronted with the problems... ppl complaining about that it costs too much money,,, etc etc etc... so it gives a wrong picture, cuz you never see the ppl that dont have problems,,,and their garage sold the most pug cars in belgium in the year '09.... of course, things can break,, and every so often there is a problem car where as soon as something is fixed something else breaks.... but in a product that is mass produced,,, you are bound to have one of those sooner or later....

i dont have mine yet... but i know im going to love her.... a lot....

Hi 'potential nubie' :wave:

To help you with that very big decision whether to buy or not let me add my voice in-terms of experience with auto's.

All of the above that has been mentioned is something I don't want to repeat but what I can say about the RCZ is that it is one fabulous car from Peugeot and can take on those brands that have traditionally been seen as most desirable. I've driven / owned those other desirable brands and I see Peugeot as an equal to them, in-fact probably a leader. Peugeot did lose their way with the car models of yester-year but they're back as a manufacturer of 'driver's' cars with the RCZ and if you've been following Le Mans their engines are undeniably very reliable. Yes.. there are still improvements to be made but these are minor with regards to build quality. A rattle here and there is sometimes noticeable and shouldn't really be in a car of such style and price but this is a minor issue and something Peugeot will improve on. As for mechanical defects I have to say that I haven't had any issues apart from a spark plug that needed replacing and now have 8000 miles of trouble free and enjoyable motoring under my belt.

As a proud owner of a very stylish and sporty car I wouldn't and won't hesitate to recommend the RCZ.
