Hi all,
Gave car a quick wash today, i have a pearl white with black wheels by the way, is it just mine or as anyone else with these wheels noticed how thin the black coating is on these wheels  in some places you can actually see straight through the paint  , like they have been sprayed with a spray can that has run out of paint.Loal dealer has rcz with same wheels on for sale may take ride over tommorow just to do a comparison and if that one is not the same what do you think the chances are for a warrenty job from peugeot as the car is only 11 months old.

the alloys are somewhat poorly finished even standard 19" the finish is very inconsistant in areas.in some parts are very lustrious looking and other parts are completely dull in finish you get what you pay for :( the 18"s are very very cheap looking i noticed this in the showroom they looked like dull plastic wheels, but then again i have never known any french car to have stunning alloys

So it looks like thats the way they are? when people quote you get what you pay for i think £23000 is a good enough reason to expect a half decent finish on wheel colour, previous to owning this peugeot i owned a bmw and previous to that an audi, both costing within the same price bracket, no issues with build quality or finish on wheels, so if people are getting only what they pay for on rcz what are we to expect for our hard earned cash?

Chill  i am saying the wheels are not of the best quality not the over all car and i think the basic BMW starts at £23k :and you get 17" wheels at the very most eusa-think: but its no excuse and also i have noticed the back wheels tend to get stonechipped so yours being black it will show up more predominetly

So chilled just put heating on  refering back to bmw i bought mine as a 9 month old used M Sport version so it had quite a few extras on it, including 18" wheels which were polished inside aswell as out! so no quality issues with cleaning or finish, is it just that we expect decent quality from BMW cars and nearly always get what you pay for, i think it is about time we stopped making excuses for peugeot on quality, even if the looks for the RCZ quite simply make up quality short-comings

Jassy, I have to disagree with you. I don't think the 18" alloys are cheap looking nor dull plastic. Mine shine like a beacon. I don't have any stone chips on the alloys either. Granted the Peugeot could do with some better alloy designs
but I object to statements that they are "cheap".

i didnt say the were "cheap" i said "cheap looking" and to be honest as 9/10 i always speak my mind :( all the alloys are cheap looking to an extent what i mean by cheap looking is not of the best quality even my fiat 17"alloys were of a higher quality than rcz,the finish on my standard 19"s varies from really shiney to dull ie the laquer applied is very inconsistant they are nice in design but finished to a budget, you had a look at the irmscher 19"s alloys now even by just looking at photo on a computer i can tell they are of a higher quality than peugeots, yes they should offer a wider range of alloys in 18" and 19" but alloys can make or break the look of a car :(

yes most members on here do make excuses for peugeot :( if i were you i would visit a wheel specialist and ask them what they could to improve the finish as they can do it for about £35-£50 a wheel :)

If you wanted the quality finish, you should have looked at / bought the Audi TT
Don't forget, this is a Peugeot and you paid the (lower) price to get your lovely looking car.

No point whinging about the quality / finish when you've paid your cash

True to an extent... You save £10k but only get £5k less car. It's a good deal. It's all relative Odi wheels we have had have faired a lot worse than pugs in the coastal air im sure elsewhere it may be different

Gorwell i think everyones entitled to complain about any purchase if they aint happy with something :eusa-think: so we just let them get a away with it :eusa-think: as for poor paint on new alloys its only after purchase that you can find this out

Why do 'coloured wheels' cost an additional £210, is it just because potential purchasers are prepared to pay it? Is the difference solely a powder coating?

I think it's just you and Wu-Tang Clan that have the poor paint finish maybe :eusa-think:
Try speaking to your Dealer, see if you can get sorted. Fingers crossed

It's because of the extra work that goes into these wheels - particularly for the finish.
I believe they are all hand painted / finished, which will add to the cost.
Bargain I say, because really they should be much more (£).

I do have to agree on this one. I purchased my car new three days ago and during its first wash I noticed that the paint finish is very poor on the 19" alloys. I have refurbished alloys on more than one car (wheels are a piece of cake compared to body panels) and I can tell you this is not good quality work. Some parts of the wheel are not even coated and it is mere overspray. I realise this is not an Audi or BMW, however painting a wheel is not difficult and it should have been done right.

It does not look good for long term durability folks.

Other than that and the water leaking into the boot on rainy days, the car is great.

My wheels are standard 18s on a THP 200 Sport, had the car for 14 mths and they are as perfect as the day I took delivery. Give them a good polish with Planet Polish wheel polish and they will keep good.

Well said KW79 on close inspection of my alloys you can even see where the paint has run between spokes

Autosmart Tardis and Iron X - both bring wheels up really well.
