PLEASE HELP...VERY WORRIED

Hi Guys,

Have owned my RCZ GT 156THP since new.

No problems at all in the 18 months since ive had her and absolutely love my car to bits, best car ive ever had.......

Im off to Spain on Monday and have decided to drive down in my RCZ and really stretch her legs and was really looking forward to it.

I cant believe it but my car has now developed a fault over the past few days whereas when I go to pull away in first gear or put my car into reverse I seem to lose all power. If I press the accelterator (even to the floor) nothing happens it just sits at idle speed.

It has only happened 3-4 times but I have no idea whats wrong, it certainly has not done this before!

I have taken her to the main dealers this morning and have explained im off on a long journey on Monday and that I need this fault sorted. I just hope I dont get fobbed off and told there is nothing wrong when clearly somethings amiss.

Has anyone else had this fault?....I have looked through the forum pages but cant see the same fault listed, I would really like to know what the problem is????

I would be very cautious about taking a long journey unless this fault is found.

It could be absolutely anything, maybe electrical, fuel starvation, timing fault or a sensor playing up.
The timing chain fault has been reported a few times but so has sensors ect, take a look at some of the engine issues reported, some are very similar to your own problem.

You cant really guess what the problem could be, especially if it is intermittent .

Your dealer will hopefully find a fault, they have the best equipment to do so.

Hi Guys, Peugeot have just called and said that they have identified a fault with the 'Turbo Pressure Sensor' and that they are going to replace it. Is that consistent with the fault I mentioned above?

All the RCZ faults seem to be 'sensor' driven....

Will they be able to sort it in time (assuming this is the correct diagnosis!)?

Yes, they are going to keep the car overnight and then change the sensor tomorrow.

I'm really concerned now as Im taking it to Spain on Monday and dont know whether it has been resolved.....what a bummer......

I would be concerned too. Sound like a faulty throttle pedal.

If it was a faulty Turbo Pressure Sensor (Boost Sensor??) I highly doubt the car would not rev up at all... It would've at worst just opened waste gate to dump all the boost the atmosphere. But I agree with snowy, if the dealer said they found the fault, enjoy the holiday and dont worry about it

I'd normally agree, but I know from some German RCZ owners that in a LOT of cases the ECU switches to emergency mode when something is wrong.

You mean it will not allow the engine to rev up at all? I think you can take Peugeot to court for that as that can be very dangerous. Think if you try and cross rail tracks or accelerate into traffic. Im still convinced its a faulty throttle pedal (read sensor).

Must wait for owner for updates.

From what I've read it's still possible to drive (more or less) but you'd have almost no power.

Not sure if the description of the OP applies here...

I had this problem today. Just got back from the Peugeot garage courtesy of AA roadside assistance. They're going to have a look at it tomorrow morning and give me a ring. The AA dude mentioned something about a misfire and a timing sensor? (I don't know a huge lot about car mechanics) as to which he unplugged and cleaned which seemed to have cleared the fault, until I drove off again.

The only way I can describe it is its as if the car isn't recognising that you're wanting to accelerate, OR as if you're driving a 20 year old 1.0 litre Ford KA or something.

My RCZ is the GT 200 model. Still under warranty, so hopefully all good. Will let you guys know how it goes.
