Being a spectator at any race can yield dangerous consequences but rally is by far the riskiest. With no barriers or separation from the course, a Peugeot RCZ R met its untimely demise at the 2015 Rallye De Franche Comte, almost taking out a handful of onlookers in the process.

Posted on YouTube by a spectator, it looks as if the RCZ lost control at high speed around the bend in the video. As a result it slid helplessly into the grass, taking aim at a trio of onlookers who feverishly ran for cover as the car barrelled closer and closer. The crash happens in a split second, with yelling and panic ensuing in the background.

This is a lesson to all spectators – always expect the unexpected. Even the best drivers can't avoid making a few mistakes!

Must have been a bit of a brown-trouser moment for the brolly guy because the car finishes up right where he was standing!

Couple of points; apart from the colour scheme it's quite difficult to make out that the car is in fact an R but it is, secondly the driver over steered way too much for what was essentially a straight piece of road and thirdly what a sad sight to see such a beast destroyed

He should never have attempted that straight bit of road in an R.

HDi would have taken it no problem :eusa-whistle: ;)

How lucky were they !!
I've got a mate who is a very keen motor sport photographer. Goes to F1 ,Rally racing and track meets.
He's got a rule when he goes to rally events, and that is to stand beside a stong tree and expect the unexpected.
With the tree being some protection if it all goes pear shaped. Just been watching RCZ racing on you tube.
Is there a RCZ touring car in the making ? :)
