Changing all the calipers etc?

There is very little options for discs. £700 for Godspeed discs, £1150 for Tarox and £1200 for genuine discs.

The avoidable big bill is to get the brake calipers rebuilt after the first set of brake pads. Don't ever push the pistons back into the caliper.

I don’t really mind doing that. I’ve been used to driving around in fairly scarce stuff and it’s part of the fun as far as I’m concerned. It’s not something everyone likes doing though. So fair enough. I’m just treating it as if it’s a classic car that’s getting used and will accept the potential difficulties attached.
If I’d wanted something easy to own I’d definitely not be cutting about in an RCZ. There’s the diesel version and suppose. But I was never taking a diesel engine in a car that looks like this. My money. My choice.
I’ve not had a single problem with mine in nearly 40k anyway. I’m sure my hand will go in my pocket in due course. And I don’t mind. The 200 isn’t really difficult to get stuff for as far as I can see. They aren’t that uncommon engines. The R will possibly be more difficult. Dunno. Haven’t got one. But if I did, I’d have had as good a dig around about the pitfalls and joys and it would have been an eyes wide open job.
And I like that you don’t see many of these around. I could have gone for a Common Germanic thing. Or Japanese or whatever. Like everyone else does. I wasn’t forced into this car. I wanted one. And still want to drive it every day.
Lots of good points there Kenneth, to be honest though, if you had moved to an R I think you would be disappointed coming from a 200, mainly due to the gearing, the R is a terrible cruiser due to the high gearing and it’s noisy in the cabin, compared to other cars it feels like your in 4th gear, I don’t even know why 5th gear exist in the R, for the track I suspect. I am also probably one of the few who think it has a terrible exhaust note. For me the joy came on the b roads superb drive.

You also need to be careful changing the bulbs in the rear lights, so easy to crack the lens, pulling the pin out in the plastic fixing is a ludicrous design!

Rear lights are not so expensive around here, and front lights are shared with the facelifted 308 T7. They are still scarce, but you can find them for a lot less than £2400.

I would also imagine you can find them a lot cheaper in France!

I’ll never know now. I’m happy with mine. I’ve racked up the miles in it and enjoyed every one TBH. there are quicker cars around but I doubt there will be that many faster A-B on the sort of B roads I’m on every day. You’re going to spend pretty heavy money to blow away the 200 in that situation. And certainly the R. They are getting a bit cheap for what they are which means they’ll fall into the wrong hands a lot more and get rarer and rarer. Or just turn into bodged messes if folk can’t afford to keep them up properly.
I think all versions will be worth looking after going forward.

I’d have thought so. Anything can be upgraded or changed if needs must.

the Alcon’s are brilliant things if you do track the car All the same. If it’s road use only then they aren’t totally necessary. You could alter the brakes and discs. I’ve seen plenty car upgrades. But not many downgraded 😜

but you could do that.
