It's with a heavy heart I'm selling my 2014 Peugeot RCZ R due to personal circumstances. Finished in stunning Opal White, this is a truly rare car one of only 86 in this colour in the UK, and widely considered the best combination. With just 275 RCZ Rs left on UK roads, it's very exclusive. She comes with a new MOT, including a new front spring & top mount, Hunter laser alignment, and a fresh air-con re-gas, over 440 quid spent recently. Full service history from trusted garages and completely HPI clear. *Note there is no service recorded for this year due to only covering 800 miles. Performance & Mechanicals: The 270bhp engine delivers excellent performance: 0-60 in 5.9s, 155mph top speed, and over 40mpg. Always run on V-Power fuel during my ownership. Engine & Timing Chain: Quiet at all RPMs, showing a well maintained engine with no unwanted surprises. Turbo, Clutch & Gearbox: Turbo engages perfectly. Clutch, gearbox, and LSD feel precise and smooth. (Clutch sometimes groans slightly if revs are too low likely from lack of use as only started doing this after being dry stored over the winter months) Chassis: Tight and responsive, drives like new with no knocks or odd sounds. Tyres: Matching Pirelli tyres with plenty of tread. Brakes: Peugeot Sport brakes feel strong; front discs show no excessive wear. Callipers freshly repainted with new decals. Air-Con & Electrics: Air-con works 100% and was re-gassed with MOT. Satnav screen fault-free. All electrics work as they should, no warning lights. Cosmetic Condition: She's in excellent condition for her age, inside and out. Interior: No rips or tears; slight bolster wear on driver's seat. Paintwork: Very good for the year. Some very minor age-related marks i.e. tiny paint peel on driver's roof arch, and a tiny roof dent. All imperfections in photos for piece of mind. Alloys: Original 19" diamond-cut alloys show slight glazing to the passenger front wheel, no deep kerbing. New centre caps fitted all round. Lighting: Third brake light works perfectly. Bi-directional xenon headlights turn with steering and lenses have just been restored. Extras & Ownership: Comes with two keys, original handbook, service book, MOT certificates, and V5 in my name. The R is a hard sell now moving forward, no matter the mileage, reality is lack of parts through the dealers, there are no alternatives with some bits, plus extortionate eye watering prices.
These cars moving forward are for collectors only with low mileage, I would argue millionaire only. I honestly can’t think of a single reason to own one on the above right now, I miss mine believe me, but I will sadly be never coming back.

For all the negatives, that’s why I like my R, it’s a rare car, I’ve never seen another R on the road, cheap tax, good on fuel, good on insurance and it looks understated, I agree parts will become harder to source but that’s the same with any rcz.

if anyone is thinking of taking the plunge on an R, the white example looks nicely priced.

Rare indeed but when you factor the cost of those diamond cut wheels, front callipers, disc, even headlights, they go cloudy on the inside(if you can get them, which I believe you can’t) they are all consumables, at best you only get 3 cuts with the alloys, those things are only just scratching the surface, suspension and certain engine bits are nearly impossible to get now. Best to buy the HDI model to ensure trouble free motoring.

Which parts are anlmost unobtainable? I have an R with only 13k miles. I’ve stacked up on some parts like wheels, brake light, front discs and pads and some small other parts. Love to get your input, so I can be on the lookout for these parts.

With that mileage you seem to have the big items covered, I would certainly look for shocks, springs can be easily sourced, exhaust bits certainly, headlights not so much on that mileage as they shouldn’t cloud inside with the use and mileage you have, my opinions are based on a R that is a daily driver.

Thanks. Headlights age by UV light I think, so that also won’t be a problem (car has lived inside for at least 90% of its life). But I’ll look out for shocks and exhaust items.

As you live in the Netherlands, I would imagine parts would be slightly cheaper, the problem with the lights is not UV related, it’s the heat from the zenon bulbs that turn them cloudy on the inside, poor quality which is annoying really.

A part that I thought was an easy obtained part til I needed it was a handbrake cable. I had one snap and the other was quite corroded.
Ordered pair from dealer as couldn’t find aftermarket and it took somewhere like 8 weeks to arrive in. Don’t know if was just a one off stock issue or they don’t make/stock them as the RCZ are considered obsolete??

The genuine Peugeot alternator was £1000 for the part alone. It was also on back order for a couple of months.

Looking at Peugeot parts direct, £2400 for a headlamp, £740 for a rear light. 🥹

The R front brake discs just keep going up and up. You're about £1200 at Peugeot Directs DISCOUNTED price.

I have to admit, those prices for parts are truly ridiculous, that must mean a little bump on the front corner would be classed as a insurance write off if the head lights are £2400 each!
My R has just flown through another mot but it has made me think about keeping it, in contrast I’ve just bought a 2017 208 gti prestige for not much more than the cost of an rcz headlight!

Honestly there is no justification to charge those prices, but due to the low number of RCZs made there will never be after market parts, it just wouldn’t pay to set up, demand would be dire also, therefore a licence for Peugeot to print money, just not worth owning a R in my opinion.
