Hi

I have recently purchased the above car which was advertised with engine fault with the following codes from a ECU reader - P0016, P1336, P1337, P1340, & P1379

After spending many hors reading threads on forums the codes maybe as below:

P1336 (Misfire on several cylinders)
P1337 (Misfire on cylinder 1)
P1340 (Misfire on cylinder 4)
P1379 (Appears this code is not relevant to Peugeot RCZs.

The car is not in Limp mode and has an orange engine light on dashboard. When i accelerate hard from cold a big warning comes on saying Engine Fault go to dealer (something like this) In summary the car appears to run with misfire when cold then seems to go away and run normal. On idle at traffic lights or very low speed the car stalls but restarts on the key. There appears to be a funny smell form exhaust!!

I would really appreciate some help with this as it doesn't appear to be straight forward.

The previous keeper had the following done to fix these issues but it did not work - High-Pressure Fuel Pump, Crankshaft Oil Seal, Rocker Cover gasket, Oil filter change and new Oil.

Thank you it would be much appreciated.

Take Care

Assuming the fuel pressure sensor & fuel rail are operating normally within range possibilities might be low pressure fuel pump in the tank but P1336-1337-1340 relate to cam & crank sensors it may be pointing to engine timing correlation bank 1 which could also mean the air/fuel mixture may be wrong as in fueling is too rich or too weak & stalling could point to low fuel pressure at idle which may need the high & low fuel trims checking?
The smell from the exhaust might be unburnt fuel which could mean the oxygen sensors (Lambda) detecting timing issues & the ECU is triggering the EML warning light
P1379 is Generic for BMW (RCZ has a BMW engine) as a knock sensor fault again associated with engine timing & combustion cycles not synchronised causing misfires
One way to check remove all spark plugs for any sign of wetness alternately change cylinder No1 plug for No2 & vice versa then run the car ?

For me it is very likely that the problem is the high pressure fuel pump.
There is a cheap system to find out:
- Purchase an ELM327 Bluetooth ODBII connector.
- Install and run the Torque application on your phone with the connector on the ODBII port
- Monitor the fuel rail pressure at cold start and when you say there are problems at idle.
- The pressure should rise to 50 bar or more within 2-3 seconds of starting. If it fluctuates below, especially when it fails then the pump is damaged and should be changed or repaired.

In addition, the pressure must already rise to 5 bar when turning the key before starting, if it does not the tank pump fails.
