It's a known issue with the THP. If the car was serviced always at Peugeot, following their requiriments/periods, you should be able to get at least some help with the bill.
As you bought the car just 2 months ago, you're covered in case you've bought it from a dealer, being it a Peugeot or not. 6 months as, I can bet my life on it, that the engine was developing the problem way before you get it.
If somehow you need to pay for it yourself, any peugeot, citroen or mini specialist would be able to do it, as they've models using the THP.
First step, back to the seller. Always give the chance to repair it. If they fight back, get it done, and sue in Small Claims for the cost of repairs. Always comunicate using a valid prrof, as Royal Mail Special Delivery mail.
Worth doing at the same time, if wasn't done before, the water pump, as despite the low milage, should be done every 4 or 5 years. That would be paid by you, but totally worth.

I originally bought my car from an independent dealer it had 17k on the clock within a couple of weeks of ownership I realised the timing chain was rattling I ran it into my local Peugeot dealership (a very well established and respected family firm) their mechanic took just two minutes to confirm that it needed the timing kit changing. He told me he had done loads the quote for the repair that's timing chain,tensioner and guides £550. Explained to the dealer who I bought the car from and obviously he didn't want to stand the cost. We turned to Peugeot UK in the hope they could assist the car was just out of warranty and had a full service history but because the service history was by independent garages they wouldn't entertain any help :thumbdown: so me and my independent dealer were at loggerheads but as a previous post states you have by law 6 months protection on the sale of goods act under fit for purpose. So to cut a long story short my dealer paid my local Peugeot dealer to do the work and he came to a deal of £450 so £850 sounds excessive to me the full Peugeot kit only costs around £120 the rest is labour! Mine was in and out the same day :dance:
