"Parking assistance system faulty"

I was only saying to someone yesterday that my heap of junk hadn't had an issues for a few months now, and I obviously tempted fate. Had the above warning light just show up.

Any ideas of anything I can do to try and resolve this issue myself before booking it in to be seen at the garage? I'm guessing this won't be covered under an extended warranty either.... :-(

I've heard reports of water getting to the sensors.
Have you washed the car prior to the message, or had lots of water over the sensors?

Re: "Parking assistance system faulty"

I power washed my car regularly and, living in Aberdeen, the car saw PLENTY of rainwater and I never encountered any issues with my parking sensors.

Thanks for the replies. No water in the sensors....

Funnily enough my windscreen washer thing was empty, and after I filled it up, the parking sensors worked fine. How bizarre is that?!

And the sensors aren't just covered with some dirt making them go off either?
