Palmolive hand soap

My work colleague asked me if using Palmolive hand soap in lieu of car shampoo would have a downside, as he believes it to be giving great results. Having ran out of shampoo and not wishing to use Fairy liquid he opted for the Palmolive. He is impressed but moderately concerned that it may not be an ideal product.

Any comments?

It just sounds wrong on so many levels!
Purely for the fact it's not designed as a car shampoo, lubricity for me would be an issue and I would be worried that it's leaving behind some kind of film on the paintwork. It won't be wax or sealant friendly, if he has any on the car, so will take it straight off I imagine.

Just give him one of your many bottles of shampoo Ron. :)

He is a penny pinching type of person. He knows how to save every halfpenny and does. No he would never wax/seal a car. Sponge and water type of a going on. He is very impressed with the Palmolive and has repeated the procedure.

I remembered the details wrongly. He has used Imperial leather 2 or 3 times and feels that it is doing a good job. He maintains that he doesn't dry it of afterwards and has noticed that since using Imperial Leather he has not noticed ant water marks left on his black focus. He is tight though, seriously tight.

I'm guessing he drives a pretty sh*t car if he doesn't wash it with the products designed for it!!!!

HARSH :wtf: do you know how this make you sound, you drive around in a pug not a Lamborghini :eusa-think: a lot of cars on the market you couldn't buy the lowest spec for what we paid for the rcz :eusa-think: and some of the polishes on the market costs hundreds of pounds making the type polish we use on our cars like hand soap :eusa-think: Doesn't matter if your car is worth £100 or £500000, most owner thinks the car they own is their pride and joy

The point being made here is that it is his pride and joy. It is like a skip and he swears by his Imperial Leather. In fact he only said as much today again! He said that it leaves the car water mark free and is cheap.
