This happened now twice in the last two weeks - I have a 200 THP with 150k km. I searched this forum and could not find any similar issue, when the code only comes up at higher RPM.

It only happens above 4.5k RPM. The car starts juddering when I press the accelerator fully and after a few minutes, the engine code comes up. No other code comes up with it.

The ambiguity of this code makes me a bit nervous, as it can be anything from spark plugs (mine are about 35k km old), bad oil (I'm 2 weeks from the regular oil change), ignition coils going bad (some were already replaced 3 years ago), VVT issues, HPFP (mine was replaced about 70k km ago - prior to me owning the car), bad timing, etc.

I'm going to keep the car going until the oil change and then see if the issue goes away or I should start replacing other stuff. I can delete the code and then the car drives fine until I floor it next time.

Did anyone here have similar issues?

EDIT: The error started appearing much more frequently today. Always goes away after turning the car off and back on.

Small update: I switched the ignition coils 3 & 4 and the error did not come up again (even at high revs). Which is weird. I'll need to do some additional investigation.

HI, I'm having the same problem today. My RCZ is a 200THP with 60K miles. Similar problem 2 years ago when P1339 was traced to sparkplug having a snapped insulator. Now P1340 has put it into limp mode and the code reader cannot clear it.
Have you come up with a solution on yours?
Regards, Chris

Hi Chris,

Did you switch the ignition coils to check if the error jumps to another code? My ignition coil was faulty as the error did not appear again after replacing the ignition coil.

Keep in mind that the P1340 error is on the cylinder that is closest to the chain (its reversed on Peugeot engines).

Hi again,

Swopped 1 and 4 coils over, but same fault code P1340.

Data Freeze P1336 shows upon start up;

Fuel Sys 2 N/A
Load PCT% 42.0
ETC C 65
Short FT1 0.0
Long FT1 -7.0
MAP KPa 92
RPM 734
MAF G/S 4.77
FRP KPa 4880

Can anyone help ?

Did you clear the P1340 code prior to swapping the coils? P1336 also points to something else (perhaps timing issues), as cylinder issues are from 37-40.
