Hi all.

Another day another problem with my rcz. Got in the car the other day and it came up with repair needed with code p0012. Took out oil pressure valve and was full of crap stopping the oil from getting through. Cleaned that off but still coming up with the same code. Also its started to smoke when idle or sitting at traffic lights when I pull away. Any suggestions what this could be and how do I get rid of the code

Running on Filthy oil spells the death knell for these engines as their direct injection firing which means if its emitting smoke & not condensate then its possible you need the valve chambers cleaning (walnut blasting) not sure Turbo could be issue its possible your wastegate may be causing probs which will also mean smoke out of the exhaust?

I believe its a lot cheaper than a new or recon engine some quotes I've seen are around £150-185 up to £250 depends who you get to do the job

Timing tool unless your chain is finished ? - Wondering if the scan show any timing issues ? VANOS solenoids are part of the VVT system NOT the engines fundamental timing the solenoids control the flow of GOOD oil to the VANOS actuators which are responsible for adjusting the camshafts timing sometimes a VANOS adaption after changing the solenoids is required
You can clear the code or drive the car a short distance if their are no other underlying problems
I have the 200Sport & change the oil 3500klm because of what your experiencing & below is the reason why

Hi there sorry you are having trouble with your car. These engines are well known for throwing codes out. In the end I still kept.getting p0012 code and changed the VVTs, cam sensors crank sensors, timing chain, boost solenoid and even the turbo. It turned out the garage I took it to fitted a cheap chinese timing chain which was stretched and throwing the cam sensors out. I have since got rid of my car the other week as i only.drove my car at the weekends and couldn't really go far as was worried it would throw another code out and go into limp mode
Hope.you have better luck with yours
