Hi guys,

As you know I ordered about 12 weeks ago the following beautiful car:

RCZ 1.6 THP 200 hp
Dolphin ("Tuanake") Blue
Easy motion pack
18 inch "original" alloys

It has finally arrived! :p

So now we are currently the proud owners of a blue RCZ.

I have a question for the petrol heads here:

Is there a specific way to handle the engine the first xyzw kilometers? E.g. don't rev higher than 4000 RPM ?

My dealer said the engine is already prepped completely by the factory and therefore I could already rev it all the way up, after running it hot of course.

I don't really believe him, so I'm treating the engine very gently for the moment. I have not been higher than 4500 RPM, which is very difficult by the way with 200 hp under your right foot ;)

What is your opinion guys?

Thanks for the feedback!

I think you are taking the correct action, but always wait until it is fully warm before reving to limiter anyway, in about a week or two.

I usually take it easy for the first 1000 miles. Always done that and never had any problems with any of my cars.

Thanks for your advice guys.

Another question:

How much mpg or l/100 km does your RCZ?

My first tank the car computer said I managed 8.3 l/100 km or 28.30 mpg. When I calculated it myself, it was quite a bit higher: 8.7 l/100 km or 27.00 mpg... and that with no revving at all :(

Now I'm currently doing 7.8 l/100 km or 30.12 mpg on my second tank and I've done 850 km (+/- 500 miles) so far in total.

How much mpg can I expect eventually?

Thanks for your reply!

My best ratio was in winter and only if I hold rpm at low as possible. It was 9.6l/100 km
Now much higher 11-12l / 100 km. But I love speed and often can turn engine to 5 000 rpm

And mine is 156hp.

32 mpg? That 's a very satisfying 7.34 l /100 (in our terms)...

I'm expecting an mpg between 27.5 and 31.5 depending on the conditions.
We 'll see how it turns out after a few thousand miles.
