Opinions on this mod I'm considering ?

Yes but have you seen these on a regularly used car? Here's what the surrounds look like on my VXR which is a similar kinda design albeit not set directly into the bodywork. They're such a pain in the ar$e that I have stopped cleaning them. I'm going to get them powder coated at some juncture. Look closely and you'll see what I mean and the build up starts within a few miles of them being cleaned.

The y should be entirely silver...and this is just after them being cleaned shiny and having covered about 20 miles.

Recently, though I don't have photos I'm afraid, this build up was encouraging up the lower panel above the surround. Just a thought is all.

I see what you're meaning but the tips I will instal will be rolled black ones and the car is not a daily driver or even a regularly used car, I've had it over a year and not even put 5000miles on it and it will be less by next year.
I have another car I use and this only gets used on good days during the summer, other than that it spends most of the time in the garage on a trickle charger so the exhaust marks on the paint of the bumper will not be any more of an issue than others have (I'll spend more time cleaning the 20 inch wheels I've put on it).

I'll drop into the body shop during the week and run it past them, I can see a bit of time on the prep work on their part but if it all works out with time=cost then I'll go for it after I get back from my holidays
It'll nearly be a full respray the cars had by the time I get the rear bumper done as the bonnet front bumper and small side wheel panels have been done (along with front badge mod and gloss black arches)

haha thanks, I know what you mean but to me the bumper grill has a meaner look to me and the badge was the only thing I didn't like on the MK1, so on the badge I would agree with anyone who didn't like it.
I went with the smooth option rather than the slight indentation round the lion on the MK2

I can assure you it will not look like a teenage chaved up car, as I've said, the detail on the finish will have to be right and look like it belongs on the car and this will require a lot of work from the body shop in the finishing detail, however if this is going to take too much time (money) to do then I'll rather not do it than just do it half ar$ed, I also have the exhaust fabricator to consider in cost but all that aside I am considering adding 2 Akrapovic carbon tailpipe tips to enhance the look and at a cost of almost £500 just for the tips I think you can be sure it won't be a half ar$ed job a chav would spend £500 doing the whole thing.

What colour is that ?? Amber / Bronze ??

Go for the Dolphin Blue or a White to set off the exhausts :thumbup:

It's going to be a very fiddly / time consuming job and as you say, will have to be done very well
not to look like a DIY effort.

It's Amber red but as the whole front has already been painted and if the exhaust mod meets a realistic budget then the rear bumper will get done also so I won't be changing the colour after spending what I've already done and I like the colour.

If the costs all work out and I go ahead I will post pics after it's done :thumbup:

I usually park more to one side and that gives me more room.

Well if you're modifying it anyways you could consider mounting your doors in "lambo style" so you can crawl out more easily... :lol:

My garage is wider than yours so I always reverse in with mirrors out so that I can line it up more precisely and I put a large bumper plate on the wall next to my driver's door so I don't damage the door when I'm too close to the wall.
If I've lined up somewhat to the other side the door will actually stop in first position without touching the wall.
