Ahhh, thought it might have been mentioned as it was an old article, but as I had just seen it I thought it might be of interest, all things Z etc.... :eusa-whistle:

Absolutely DKZ, no harm in that at all. What do YOU think of it?

One of the main features of the Z is the double bubble. That would be a very hard feature to retain in a cabriolet version.

I have just come from a Megane CC Mk2 which I loved, but the weight of the glass roof and the way the 1.6 engine was tuned made the performance side shocking.

I am in no rush to go charging back to a hard top CC and I have never been keen on soft top convertibles, so the Z as is, is perfect for me right now.

I can see how people would be interested in a convertable version, and I would certainly view it with interest, but I think inevitably it would lose something of its current desirability, unless somehow the performance and looks could be maintained.

The model shown would have had me drooling when I owned the Megane CC, had I not previously seen the RCZ we all know and love.

I would always keep an open mind, but probably a closed wallet. :eusa-think:

I always thought a targa-top was the way forward. I would quite happily pop the roof panels in my boot and off I go!!

Agree with DKZ that for me one of the main features is the double bubble and the one you get most comments about as a very striking feature when Joe Public talks to you I don't think the soft top with the rails or the full convertible do much for the car

The Vette has T Tops which are great as they clip off in seconds and stow behind the seats (or more often left on the garage floor!) but the car still retains its shape sadly if I am honest even with new seals \ gaskets they still leak a little the odd time I get caught in the rain when out

I don't like that cabrio type roof on the RCZ, I don't think it suites the car at all but a full convertible maybe better. Personally I've always thought that the 911 has always looked better in the coupe than the convertible although I have been tempted in the C2S convertible so that I can hear the optional sports exhaust fully.

The way to replicate the double bubble in a convertible would be similar to the Porsche spyders.
