Sorry to bore you all again. This time a detail of my brothers new car
So here we have the detail of my brother's new (to him) Honda Civic Type S in Milano Red. He's had it a week and has around 25k miles on the clock.
The car was not looking too bad just needed a good machine polish to rectify the soft Honda paint. No before photos I'm afraid.
As usual, started with the wheels. These were cleaned and decontaminated using Car Chem Revolt, Carpro Iron X, Autosmart Tardis and Meguiars APC. Surprisingly, not a lot to show for a three year old car.
Next stage was to clean up the engine bay using Megs APC, 303 Aerospace Protectant and AF Dressle. Sprayed on and left for about 6 hours, before being buffed off.
Before
Next the car was snow foamed using Car Chem snow foam.
Whilst the snow foam was dwelling the grill, door shuts, petrol cap, panel gaps, etc were all cleaned with a detailing brush and then the car was PWd down.
Next it was onto cleaning the car. Shampoo of choice today was Car Chem Tailor Made shampoo
which smells of strawberry but more importantly cleans really well.the car was rinsed down using the DI vessel.
The car was feeling very rough so Iron X and Tardis were sprayed over the car, one at a time, to decontaminate the paintwork. There was quire a lot of tar all over the car. This was followed by claying the paintwork with the CG clay mitt. After this process, the paintwork was feeling much smoother.
Next the wheels were wiped down with Panel Wipe and sealed with Gtechniq C1 for long lasting protection.
Tyres were dressed with Gtechniq T1, my favourite tyre dressing.
Just as I was about to start the polishing stage, the rain came. As the car was partly protected under the carport I decided to polish up the exhausts, sill kick plates, petrol cap, door handles and chrome on the front grill using the Britemax Twins. All now looking nice and shiny.
Whilst still under the carport I started applying Gtechniq G1 to all the windows. 1 coat to side windows and 3 coats to windscreen and rear window. Glass had been clayed and then cleaned using Angelwax Vision glass cleaner.
The trim was cleaned down and then Nanolex Trim Rejuvenator was applied. A 50/50 of the scuttle panel but also applied to wing mirror surrounds, door pillars. The mesh bits on the grill front and back were sprayed with AF Dressle and spread with a brush. Buffed with a cloth.
The passing shower had passed over and the sun came out, which was rather stronger than I realised and by the end of day had burnt the back of my neck! Time to start work on the polishing. Car was taped up and my polishing favourites joined me once again. Meguiars 205 was the main polish on a white Hexlogic pad. This combination was bringing the paintwork up nicely. No photos of the polishing stages as I was severely pushing for time due to the rain earlier. The front of the car has numerous stone chips and having read about Honda Civics, this is the norm, with it having very soft paint. Paintwork was wiped down using panel wipe.
To enhance the paintwork further I decided to cleanse the paint using Clearkote Red Moose Glaze. This leaves a great finish and buffs off with ease ready for a nice coat or two of wax.
I was looking for something to give the car a bit of extra durability as I wouldn't be doing the car too regularly. The wax of choice was BMD Taurus. My first time of using it. Like all BMD waxes, easy to apply. Even when I applied in sun and the panels were warm, it still buffed off easily. 2 coats were applied
A couple of photos of the wax curing including the wing mirror trim with Nanolex applied.
The interior was cleaned down. Megs APC, Angelwax AnGel interior dressing and Angelwax Absolution upholstery cleaner were used and a detailing brush to get in the nooks and crannies. All Rubber was protected with Swissvax Seal Feed.
I love the electronic dials on these cars. Brilliant.
Last job of the day was to buff up the engine bay which had been sprayed hours earlier to leave a much improved look.
My brother was very pleased with the finished car, as was I. I liked the look hat BMD Taurus had left behind. It was looking very glossy.
Here's a few finished photos, unfortunately it had clouded over by this time.
