Hi Stagger

I've ordered two Mini 0801 from Amazon for about £26 each which seems a bargain. I'll get a couple of hardwire kits and I guess these just need to connect to a circuit which is live with the ignition on. I've got a Peugeot ServiceBox application on three DVDs which include wiring diagrams. If you need a wiring diagram just let me know. Cheers. Bruce.

Update: Just realised that my £26.99 version is an inferior model that looks identical and came up in the 0801 search results! So they will be returned to Amazon and I'll get two genuine 0801 cameras. Must be more careful when ordering in future!

Lo there thornebt,
Just to let you know I received the Mini 0801 camera yesterday. I currently have the mount and camera well hidden behind the rear view mirror and the standard cabling tucked behind the headlining and A-post cover, and then routed to the centre console. At this point I do not have the hard-wire/step-down kit as I wanted to see how the camera worked before I ordered that.
Works fine plugged in via the power socket in the centre console though and stops/starts as the turn/on/off the ignition.
Resulting vids are great, so at this point point well pleased.
Will post a vid when I get round to it .

I have a Black Vue cam mounted in my RCZ. It's full HD for the front camera and HD for the rear camera.
I had a specialist that mounted it and the moment I start the car it start recording. You don't see any cables
and from the drive side the front camera is hidden behind the rear view mirror.

The quality is realy good.

Here's my mini 0801 setup.
Cost - £34.99 delivered

All wires hidden aside from bit shown below - will hide all this in fuse box area when I get the step-down kit.

Hi Stagger. My two 0801 cameras arrived today and I have just opened the box. They are smaller than I imagined so that is very good. If the power supplies do not interfere with radio reception I intend to stick with the standard power cables. I would install additional cigarette lighter sockets in the boot for the rear camera and maybe in the glovebox for the front camera, taking the feed for both from the centre console cigarette lighter socket. Have you tried the radio with the cameras working? Cheers. Bruce.

Not tried with Radio thus far. Will have a try tomorrow for you.
EDIT - just tried Radio (incl Dealer fit DAB) - and it works fine without interference from Camera.

As for the lighter sockets, I am having a think about them. There probably is sufficient space for one cigarette connector in the fuse box area without getting things two hot. You could then run a cable for another lighter socket in the boot as you say.
Having said that You can get step downs adapters with dual (full size) usb outs which means buying 2x cheap usb->mini-usb cables for both your front and rear cameras. Another option maybe and a tad less obtrusive..
Haven't made the call on the second camera yet - will test this one for a while before I make that call.

Hi Stagger. I think I've found quite a good location for the rear camera. I took the mounting base apart by removing the four tiny screws, drilled through the base and the plastic vent behind the rear headrest and put a nut and bolt through. I thought that sticking it to the rear screen was not a good long term way of doing it. There's only a tiny circuit board in the mount so loads of room for the bolt head.

Just need to get the power supply from the cigarette lighter through to the boot which I haven't looked at yet but should be easy enough.

I'd love something like this but lack the experience to actually do the fit... Did you all do this yourself or get a garage/person to fit? Any recommendations on who can do a good job on something like this?

These cameras are quite easy to fit. You just stick the mounting bracket to the top of the screen and hide the wire by tucking it behind the headlining, down the windscreen side trim etc as shown in the photos further up this post. I didn't remove the headlining or side trim as there was enough flex in it to just tuck the wire behind. The cameras can be simply plugged into the cigarette lighter or you can wire into the fusebox or choose a convenient wire that becomes live when the ignition is turned on. I think though that careful consideration needs to be given to which wire you choose in case the cameras taking current has an effect on that circuit.

If unsure it would be best to entrust the job to an autoelectrician. I don't think it would cost too much as they would probably do it inside an hour.

My own cameras are just powered by the cigarette lighter at the moment as I've not had the time to wire them in more permanently but that will be done soon.

Quick question on the fitting.

I will be piggybacking an ignition switched fuse in the fuse box for a perm fitting

I have yet to remove the side panel that buts up against the door card - so I can get to the side of the fuse box.
Don't want to break anything, but I am assuming this side panel just clips in place, and can easily be levered off?

yep mine just pulled off with my fingers, and thumped back in place when finished.

Lo there,

Sometime over the Christmas break, between the mince pies, I will be looking at hardwiring a dual USB adapter within the fuse box, piggy backed off one of the fuses.
I will then run two usb<->mini-usb charging leads for the front 0801 mini camera I have, plus another to the back of the car for the second mini 0801 camera I will get at some point for the rear window.

As the garage I got the car from did not provide me with a manual for the car and I do not have a wiring diagram to hand, which of the fuses do peeps recommend I piggy back off the fuse box. There are by looks of things a mix of both standard and mini fuses in the fusebox. The dual USB outlets will be drawing a max of 3amps combined.

Cheers

Oh, and I'm looking for a suitable earthing point near the fuse box, for the neg lead from the dual-usb adapter. Ta.

Hi, don't know if you've found a suitable earthing point yet. I'm on the same quest and I noticed a couple of big fat green 'n' yellow striped wires in the glovebox. I reckoned that if they weren't earths then someone at Peugeot hasn't been doing their job properly! I stuck a snap-on splicer on one of them and, lo and behold, I've got my earthing point. You'll have to be a bit careful as space is tight in that bit of the loom and there's a couple of quite delicate little wires in there.

I hope this helps.

That helps with the battery - grd
I have two other wires to connect battery + which I understand needs to have a continuous power.
And a ACC that needs no continuous power.
Which fuses should I use
