Hi;

On switching the ignition on my HDI the oil warning level is flashing, on checking the oil level is fine the manual says consult the dealer does anyone else have this or had this problem warning gauge shows “Oil - -“

Really getting sick of these little problems now may be time to get rid

Been in to local dealers this afternoon and its not the oil level, or the sensor or the filter its a new fault dealers haven't seen before, they spoke to pug technical who want the car in for two days to try and resolve the issues as it shows no fault code.

Oh dear. Us diesel burners have been trouble free unlike the 200 bhp owners. Hope that it doesn't begin to effect lots of HDi's Mines done 25K and is coming up to being 2 years old.

Mine has done less 800 miles since 20K service so I hope no one else gets this fault.

Well my Z has been in the garage another full day and still no news or update from the dealers a simple phone call giving an update would be nice.

I the last year I have had the following issues,

1. Drivers side mirror replaced
2. DPF fault
3. Passengers mirror replaced
4. Drivers door hinge dropped
5. ABS and ESP failure
6. Oil Level warning fault

I think I have a duffer of a car so the wife has now said its got to go as its been off the road for a week this year alone.

Are you using Arnold Clark? I've been hearing good reports about the service dept at Gillanders in P'head. I think I might use them for a service ... for me being just outside Ellon, it's "six and half a dozen" what garage I use.....

I personally think this must be cr@p - they're a peugeot dealership - how many other models have the 163 HDi???? I fail to believe there's problems that haven't arisen ... not when the model is now 3 years old and the engine is goodness knows how old...... :eusa-think:

How long has your car been chipped for? This hasn't thrown up an issue has it???

I hope the dealer can restore your faith in the Z, it's a crackin' car #fingerscrossed

I don't see this being a diesel specific issue either, I suspect they use the same technology to sense/measure engine oil level in both petrol and diesel engines.

The chip isn't the issue here I have had that on since I have had the car and the car has been serviced by Swansway in Chester, The problem has been fixed and this is what I have been told.

This is not just a diesel issues the PSI unit has had an update to cure the fault but this did not work so following this the following must take place.

Jack car up on the right hand side and drain the oil measure how much comes out and weigh it as well, lower car and refill check the lights have gone out, if they are still on, Jack car up on the left hand side and drain the oil measure how much comes out and weigh it as well, lower car and refill check the lights have gone out this process must be repeated three times.

I was lucky mine reset after two the first drain, this only the second this has happened according to Pug technical, so what's going to be next. and I have owned,

1989 205 GTI 1.6 new
1990 309 GTI new
1991 205 GTI 1.9
1992 309GTI 16V LHD
405 SRI
405 MI16

also loads of others but the trouble I am having has put me off this time. but what do you replace a Z with nothing looks as good. :!: :?:

Think I have a similar issue. Coincidentally both times the warning has come up its just after the car has been in with Peugeot.

Topped up about 2 months ago with 1L, cleared the warning.

Came on again today, put just over 1L in again and it's not cleared. Checked dipstick, level is spot on but still I have the warning. Car is booked in for Friday anyway so have asked them to investigate :eusa-think:

Can't believe the car would burn that rate of oil...

My car was in the dealers again today for some warranty work. All works done, picked up and was 2 mins down the road and got a call from the garage. Can you come back please sir we've noted some oil spots on the floor where your car has been.

So got back to the garage and they said they'd bring a car round for me - an RCZ. When I got in it was an auto!! No thanks I said! Took the salesmans car instead...

Will hear what the issue is tomorrow I hope, although they were doing something with an oil pipe. Kind of think it's a bigger issue however due to my above post. Thank god for a warranty!

I love my atomic (thanks to Ron, I always call her atomic now). Did you drive the auto, or just say no on principle?

I've had my car for 18 months without a problem but yesterday I got in and the oil low warning came up. Checked the dipstick and it was indeed low, filled it up so it was fine on the dipstick but still the warning was showing. Drove, a nervous, 200 miles and parked up overnight. Checked this morning and the level is fine (no leaks etc) but the warning still shows up when I start the car.

My question: is this a problem with the sensor as there seems to be plenty of oil? I have another 200 miles to do today and am obviously a bit concerned about driving with a warning light showing.

As this is my first problem I'm a bit in the dark on these matters and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

I had an oil leak and it was an actual leak, not a faulty sensor. I had to fill up way too much oil over a 3m period so new something was wrong and the oil light kept coming like yours did. All sorted under warranty though - not that this helps you with your 200 mile journey!
