"Oil Level Measurement Invalid"

For the last couple of days, when I start the car I am seeing the message "Oil Level Measurement Invalid".

I have checked that the dipstick is seated correctly, and have checked that the level of oil is ok.

Can anyone tell me what could be causing this, and how to remedy it?

Thanks
Gary

I'm not convinced this isn't some kind of software initialisation/start up issue, i.e. The first readings are invalid but get reported as faults. If true, this is most likely a timing issue during switch on. Before replacing sensors, I would wait a while to make sure it's a hard fault. Even intermittent hardware issues will become permanent after a while. Having said that, the worst ones are those that might force the engine into limp mode.

Well, whatever this was it appears to have righted itself without any involvement from me!

The message lasted about a week, and has now been absolutely fine for the last 5 days :)

I'm thinking that the remap I had done *might* have had something to do with it.....

It could've done I guess. Still...it appears to have rectified itself so hopefully that'll be the end of it for you!!

I'm still of the opinion things like this are semi-random. While it's tempting to link them with other things (like a remap), I think the systems involved are too far apart to influence each other much, so the absence of the message is just coincidence.

Bet you don't see it again for - let's say - 3 months. :eusa-think:
