Haven't been around for a while......

My 60 plate Amber Red RCZ GT 200 has now clocked up just over 26k miles and also enjoyed a holiday last September where it took in the Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the South of France which was my holiday destination just outside Nice, before returning to Scotland via Dover. 2561 miles all in.

After my previous 308CC GT being off the road for a month with the timing chain etc.. issues and flogged as a result, I was hoping for better luck with the RCZ. It hasn't been bad but the timing chain tensioner was replaced two weeks ago but it only took 2 days instead of the month that the 308CC took. Different dealer mind you, it went back to where it was bought and not the local incompetent dealer. The thermostat housing was also replaced last year.

I have been looking at new cars during the past few months and my shortlist was Nissan 370Z, BMW Z4 Roadster and a new RCZ.

I didn't view any 370Z's as I was put off a little by the near £500 road tax, low MPG and the need to use premium fuel, I previously owned a 350Z Roadster from new for nearly 5 years.

I had a test drive in the BMW Z4 just over 2 months ago and it was ok. But at £32.5k, it was really stretching me and taking into account that the car never done anything for me, it was out.

It is also more sensible to keep to a car that can (at a stretch) seat 4 as my Dad can't drive at the moment. I can use his Megane at the moment but he may end up selling it if he isn't able to drive.

I have been looking at ex demo RCZ's as my current car was an ex demo but it needs to be white, preferably petrol and I have seen nothing with the right spec and price.

Last Wednesday, although a bit on the late side, I went to the dealer to enquire about the RCZ Magnetic 156 after spying it in the showroom the week before when my current RCZ was in for repair.

It turned out that the one in the showroom was sold and they could only find one white one available which was held near London. After enquiring about it, they were told that they weren't allowed it. On Saturday, they offered me a deal on a GT 156 specced up as a Magnetic apart from the Magnetic interior. The deal was a lot more than I was prepared to pay so I left it.

On Tuesday, I got a surprise answer phone message whilst at work saying they had sourced a white one and could offer me a significantly better deal than what they offered me on Saturday. I called back not expecting much but the deal was excellent. I was told I would need to give an answer within a day or so or they would advertise it for sale. I told him I would be in after work to sign the order form :) I drove the 40 miles to get there after work and was back out in less than 10 minutes.

So hopefully on Monday or Tuesday I will say goodbye to my current RCZ and pick up a new White RCZ Magnetic 156 :)

Wow, you've really fallen on your feet there. Great news for you and good on your dealer for going sourcing the car for you and getting you a good deal into the bargain

Look forward to seeing your pics when you pick it up :)

Thanks.

I have got to say that the dealer has been very good throughout. Peugeot dealers are always great at sales but aftercare is often a let down. With this dealer, they were pretty good both times my RCZ has been in for repair.

Your new RCZ is looking nice. If I didn't currently have the amber red one, then red would have been my 2nd choice.

Will get the pics up as soon as I can :)

I will miss the Vision pack and would have got it if options had been available on the Magnetic.

Yeah...but at least you'll be able to see slightly less well from the comfort of your plush new red leather interior!

Sorry for not posting after picking the new RCZ up last Friday, very busy week at work etc...

Very happy with the car. But I have remembered why I was happy to get rid of the white 308CC everytime I go through a dirty puddle :D

I do miss the 200 engine v the 156 engine. Not a big difference but you do notice in certain situations. But to be fair, with the difference in price, I am better putting the money into other projects planned for the house next year.

The vision pack is another miss but I can live with that.

At the end of the day, I got an RCZ Magnetic when it looked like it wasn't possible and the deal offered was in my opinion, excellent.

I am hoping that this latest Peugeot ownership comes with less problems than the last two or it will most likely be my last Peugeot and this is number 10.

Some quick pictures are up in the gallery but I will try and get some better ones later.
