Not Been on for while

Hi guys not been on for while, the forum has fairly grown since the last time I was on

You may remember I got rid of my RCZ for a Mercedes SLK. Just thought I'd let everyone know the SLK has now been traded in for a Range Rover Evoque

Overall opinion is its the best car I've owned by far. The interior quality beats the Merc and RCZ and it really does turn heads.

Hope you enjoy the pics

Looks really tidy! I always wondered when would "range-up" the freelander like they did with the Discovery3 by using it to make the range rover sport.

Good bit of British engineering :)

I saw one the other day and was surprised that I thought it looked ok. I normally just see that type of car and mentally think "battle bus" Pleased that your feelings for the Evoque are identical as mine are for the RCZ

Looks really nice. Not been a fan of 4 x 4's but do like these, a squashed fashionable one. Same as RCZ, shame that they are now owened by Tata, India.

 I know I just wasn't a massive fan of the SLK mainly because of the 2 seats and the tiny boot, plus the with new SLK coming out I thought it was best to sell up before prices got too low.

I'll have this one of a few years ;) Think i've just come to the end of my life with sports cars and prefer something a bit more comfortable, what with the state of the roads these days.

How are things RCZ1? Are you and the RCZ well?

Yes I'm good, thank you for asking.
Had a bit of moment with Pearl the other day. Scraped my newly replaced wing mirror putting the car in the garage.
Really not happy  But apart from that she's doing well - I still love her to bits

I don't need to ask if you are okay, it must be like christmas in your house, nearly every month, with all these new cars.
My husband's says you must be bashing your husband and the only way he surrunders is to get another car :D

I do like the Evoque though - its more of a woman's car than the usual Range Rover / Land Rovers, I think - Do enjoy it

Thank you for that comment RCZ1. For the first time ever I actually liked the look of a "battle bus" and then you go and say that "its more of a woman's car than the usual Range Rover / Land Rovers, I think" Thanks a bunch. I feel so manly after that comment

Aye Ron, my OH was looking at the Evoque and I commented that it was the 'wifie's version of the RR .... like the Freelander is to the Landy... he stopped looking at it after that!

My Husband is more of a car fan than me, so he's quite happy to have something new to play with, he changes his car ever year or so. Normally I stick to 2-3 years but If you remember it was him that bought me the SLK as birthday gift

He usually sticks to larger cars but he recently purchased a Bentley Continental GT which was part of the reason for the Evoque. I've classed it as his mid-life crisis car

I was pretty annoyed at him when he puchased the Bentley as its a 2005 model and he traded in a 2009 Model Diesel Jaguar XF which was still under warranty but he can't be told. His arguement was he got it for the same price as the XF was new so apparently it was a "bargin" fingers crossed nothing goes wrong with it as we'll have some expensive repair bills

Thats a shame about your RCZ hope everything can be sorted quickly. Yes I agree the Evoque is a bit more feminine that most Range Rover's it looks pretty mean in Black though :) I was going to get mine in white but the RCZ and SLK were both white so I fancied a bit of a change :D

You women have a way of putting us off the car that we are interested in. I'd been longing for a Jaguar X-Type finially I was in a position to have one. Brand new outright purchase. She who must be obeyed said "but it's an old mans car" I bought an Astra TwinTop !

My other half doesn't listen to a word I say, he's bought several cars without even consulting me then comes into the house and says the dreaded words "look what I've bought" The XF was IMO opinion a better car than the GT but he can't be told

I previously had the Astra TwinTop before my RCZ, it was a great car I had mine for 3 years :)

I had two of them over a three and a half year period. That Bentley looks amazing. A real quality car. I couldn't afford the petrol to run it though. For people like me a car like that is class and I wouldn't know a ten year old model to the very latest. They are simply a Bentley!! Way out of my league.

Yes the Evoque looks great in white, I just fancied a change after having two white cars previously.

The Bentley is very "standoutish" and not really my taste however the power is unbelievable and its very smooth in comfort mode. I think in green it looks a bit less flash than perhaps the bright blue, white or black

I live very near parks bentley in hamilton scotland and the cost of bentleys they have can really really be stupid up to £260,000 for the new 4 door, the sport versions in solid paint colour with dark tinted lights are   i dont doubt the warp factor speed of them with w12 engine with twin turbochargers bolted on to it :eusa-think:   but i would have a aston martin v12 vantage before the bentleys as chavy footballers have tarnished the bentley slightly but the dark metallic green does dignify it the more :)

Sorry Ron - I just think its more curvy than the boxy shape of the Range Rovers therefore more womanly
Certain cars do have an "old man" status to them - us woman know best :eusa-whistle:

Have you and your husband won the lottery  The Bentley is very understated in green but looks great.
I really like the Evoque in white, but I understand your reasons for wanting a change, but your colour still looks good.

I wish, although the way my husband buys things I sometimes wonder, he's addicted to ebay these days he ended up 2 months ago buying a piano which has since been sitting in our garage, he doesnt play piano nor do we have space for it in the house

Glad you like the Evoque :) Am I right in saying your husband has the Discovery RCZ1?

Yes he does. He really likes his Discovery 4. Its such an easy car to drive, it just wafts you along so smoothly, not as good as the RCZ in the corners though  He's thinking of changing it in March for the updated Discovery. Surprisingly he's not so keen on the Evoque - "its not a real Land Rover" and all that, is what he says. He's a bit of a traditionalist.

I haven't actually seen one on the road yet. Passed two transporters full of them when we were going up to Skye in October - must be popular in Scotland !
