Guys, need advice....

Three times now each time spaced apart I've been driving along then suddenly I have no power, car runs etc but when I put my foot down on accelerator there is nothing there?

Been to garage and no fault registered?

Any ideas?

Sounds like a timing issue. will send the car into limp mode. any peugeot, citreon or BMW garage will be aware of the issue.

Hold your horses everybody! Suzanne has got an HDi which doesn't suffer tensioner problems. :eusa-think:

School Boy error by me.

Sorry Suzanne!

If its the diesel it could be as simple as a clogged filter? My dad has the HDi 163 in his 407 Coupe and it suffered a similar stuttering / power loss. The car was serviced and all the filters changed and it worked like new.

Do you do a lot of town driving for short distances?

Do these cars have the throttle by wire? Suzanne says that suddenly there is no power as if the throttle wasnt working. If it was going into limp mode, surely the engine management light would come on :eusa-think:

Yes I believe they do have DBW throttle, well I know the THP does.

Sounds like faulty throttle pedal\position sensor. AFAIK, another member had the same issue not too long ago.

Well guys, thank you for all your comments. I took it to Peugeot and well this is what they said...."basically, you've accidentally hit the cruise control on the steering wheel and you've set the mileage limiter to 18mph - hence when you came off the motorway the minute you slowed down, the speed limit was set to 18mp. So we've cleared this now and set it to 134mph - so it shouldn't happen again" WOW - so now I might come off the motorway and hit 134mph!!!

I'm confused. Both the cruise control and the speed limiter can be overridden, at least on my car.

In cruise mode I can always press the accelerator and add speed, then when I lift off it goes back down to my preset speed. In limiter mode it won't exceed the limit I've set *unless* I press the accelerator hard in which case the system assumes I need a burst of speed to get out of trouble and let's me exceed the limiter. Gentle use of the throttle will of course obey the limiter setting.

I'm assuming that when you had no power you will have tried full acceleration which would override either the cruise or limiter settings, so I don't see where the dealership are coming from with their explanation.

Hopefully it won't happen for you again but if it does try flooring the throttle.

I would suggest that fearing that your beautiful RCZ has gone into limp mode then harsh acceleration is not to be recommended.

If the engine light came on or if there were any unusual noises I would agree, Ron, I'd be too scared to cause further damage. But a lack of power should be Ok to try full throttle.
