We left the finca about nine thirty Saturday morning before Christmas.
After fueling up in the village, headed west for nearly an hour on twisty roads to reach the A66 Autovia de la Plata for the journey north.
Set cruise control to hundred and thirty five kph and sat back for a couple of hours.
Took a break for coffee and tortilla to top up our energy and stretch ancient limbs, then about two and a half hours more, A66, a little A6, much A52, and approximately six hundred kms and six hours in total, then LGN could sleep, and for me a welcome glass of plonk.
The traffic had been light with cruise control rarely disconnected.
I could not resist the occasional naughty burst to breach one hundred and fifty.
It took sweeping climbs effortlessly at a hundred and thirty five with descents using zero fuel indicated at same speed.
The return trip commenced at just after ten thirty Thursday morning.
Reached home about seven hours later using same route (in reverse, obviously) with minor diversions to find eateries off the main road.
The first hour or so was very damp in Galicia and close to freezing, with patchy low cloud forming fog banks in places.
This reduction in visibility meant occasionally dropping cruising speed a bit although maintained about a hundred and thirty with bursts of a hundred and fifty when I felt like risking it.
One camera might have got me, if it was working; we shall see.
The only minor niggle being uneven/rough surfaces on poorly patched stretches felt through stiff suspension and low profile nineteen inchers.
The kamikaze flies now need to be removed from leading edges/surfaces.
Outward trip info: 617 kms 6.0 l/100 106 km/h.
The overall, there and back figures are: 1232 kms 6.1 l/100 103 km/h.
The fuel consumption, going by previous similar trips, would be not a huge amount less in the 5008, being a bus shaped like a pointy brick and needing a little more encouragement on the climbs up to the passes.
Comfort about the same, but stability and feel much more positive in the RCZ as you would expect.
Nice journeys, and of course many heads turned in car parks.

Nice story.

I always enjoy long hauls in the RCZ. The seats are comfy, there is enough power to make the pace and the car feels safe in any conditions.
I just got back from driving a lot on icy and snow-covered roads. Very stable that car in those conditions.
I bet you had no worries about driving on snow
