Hi all. Ian here (845) Just bought a lovely 1,6L petrol 2014 RCZ auto. I don't know much about it except what is in the handbook. I drove it 1000km home from previous owner, and have no idea what unleaded fuel it uses. Here in New Zealand we have 91, 95 and in some places 98 octane rated fuels. I filled up with 91 and it seems fine with no preignition. The handbook says nothing about octane rating other than reference to ethanol blends (which are unavailable in NZ anyway). MY question is " is 91 octane ok to use"?
Also, I REALLY love this car, so any suggestions on keeping everything working properly (outside of normal factory suggested services) would be most welcome. Cheers everyone.

Use 98 or 95. I usually use 100 because the only other we have available is 95.

Which octane level is preferable is written under the gasoline tank lid.

Welcome Ian 🙂 I would be tempted to run it on 95 octane fuel in your location, but have a look inside the fuel cap to see what they recommend.

I have always run mine on Shell Nitro V Power here in the U.K. This is 99 octane. If on the rare occasion I need fuel & can’t find a garage selling premium fuel, I always add Red X fuel additive to the tank.
My car is now 8 years old & has always run like an F1 Merc 😄

Try Millers Ecomax. You can get it from Halfords. It used to be £14, but it's now up to nearly £19.

I put 100ml in for a tank. The bottle is 500ml.

I find the car drives noticeably smoother, sharper and returns slightly better MPG.
