Hello fellow Pugz owners..
I have owned my Black 156 for a month now. Cracking car. I have had pugs for years and moved up from a 406 coupe diesel.Just had the kerbed 19s repaired. Hope to have years of fun with this one..I am also on Peugeot Sport official owners club site and have looked longingly at the RCZs that come each year to pugfest.( I take my 205 GTI to that)..Now I have one...Cool.
Anyone now why the engine rattles like a diesel sometimes, hopefully this is'nt more than a heat shield rattling...Thanks, and I shall be posting as I progress in ownership..Ta.

General concensus is that it is one of two things:

1) hydraulic tappets - nothing to worry about

OR

2) initial symptoms of timing chain issues

Personally, I've had two - a GT 200 & now an 'R and I've never been aware of timing chain rattles from either of them.

My advice would be to keep a watching brief and look out for signs of it changing.

Where in Wiltshire are you? My car is in the garage at the moment with the rattle issue and they are expecting it it to be the timing chain

Welcome :greetings-wavingblue:

Thought mine was a heat shield too no such luck!
I'll guarantee it's the timing chain and associated tensioner / guides. Don't leave it get it to a dealer and let them sort it. Cost me £500 at local Peugeot dealers for a full timing kit fitted, they have updated parts for this all too common problem.
Once sorted you can enjoy your new car worry free good luck.

JR if you are near to Chippenham you could bring the car to us. They are certainly familiar with the problem and have my own car in the workshop as I type.
