Hi All yes I know the Tags a little strange but the Sunday Car is the apple of my eye from my youth a 77 Corvette (and yes I know the 77 isn't truly a Stingray as they dropped the name that year) you know what they say about the difference between men and boys is the price of the toys well I fell in love with a hot wheels model and ended up with the real thing.
However have just become an RCZ owner this Monday it a 2013 Sport THP 200 ex Peugeot Managers Car so I believe slightly unusual in that it has leather seats and dash or was that just sales talk?
I love the looks of the car and love how it drives, a poor mans TT? I don't think so lets face it the TT looks like a wannabe 911 these days I think the RCZ is actually unique mine was parked next to a Ferrari California on Tuesday night and held its own at least in the looks department!
I'm still getting used to the car so not really pushing it at the moment and I was a little surprised to have to wash the car after two days if only to clean the brake dust from the wheels is that normal?
Anyways just had a brief look about the forum and look forward to having a good read when I have more time and it looks like from an outsiders (at the moment) point of view to be a decent balance between banter and information long may it continue

Cheers All Dave

Thanks for all the kind and welcoming comments agreed you shouldn't get tied up over the trim level of what I have just acquired at the end of the day its pretty much window dressing on a really great car

Welcome.
We have another member thats into Corvettes, see the sublime or rediculous thread in general chat or Other maques, (Cant remember which one)

I wouldnt say the RCZ is a poor mans anything, as it still costs enough to deter boy racers (although they seem to be able to afford TT's) :eusa-think:

The leather dash is an extra, but all other models have faux leather, so its not hugely different.

But anyway, enjoy yourself, have a look around :)

Welcome Stingray_dave!! great name. if your car has 19' wheels then it is probably the GT model and leather seats and dash come with that package, i think. what colour is it and what spec do you have? e.g xenons, nav etc. Also we like photos on here so make sure and post some when you can. :greetings-wavingblue:

Sounds like sales talk. All RCZ'z have leather dash, some faux some real leather, but the only way you can tell them apart is by the colour of the stitching.

The Sport now has a part leather seat option so they could have been leading you up the garden path a bit. But what does it matter as long as you are enjoying it.

If its a poor man's TT, I'm so glad I'm on my knees. The RCZ is a gorgeous looking car, I only thought that today when I caught 2 people stood admiring it when I came out the Supermarket :)

Hi Dave  and welcome. The 200 has got big brake calipers on the front and do seem to give off a lot of dust, but it's a small price to pay for such awesome anchors

Hi Bigleigh thanks for that I just wondered as after two days light -ish use and maybe 140 miles the wheels were definitely looking the worse for wear colour wise as you say no big deal just wondered if I had a brake binding after it had stood in the showroom that said it seems to be free enough if you set off from lights on a slight slope agreed they do stop you well!

I gave mine its first quick wash today after doing about 150miles in it and the wheels look really dirty still.. I think its because when they dressed the tyres they got it all over the wheels!! and when it was clean it looked nice but the tyre dressing makes the dust stick to the wheels like glue!! hopefully this may be part of the problem!! so as a tip dont paint the alloy wheels with tyre dressing!!!

I use Chemical Guys wheel guard after I've cleaned my wheels, it's a doddle to use and the next time you clean your wheels the dirt comes off easy :D

Hi RCZash

Your ex Vette, s looking good glad to say I'm not missing my Vette the Z is my everyday car the Vette isn't practical to run every day but still lives in the garage to come out at weekends. Its a 77 and if you know your Vette,s then it rolled out of the factory in either 180 0r 220 BHP but I had the engine worked on so its now a 383 "stroker" 4 barrel Carb, Ceramic Manifolds, Harmonic Balancer chain timing belt etc etc so turns out a very respectable 470BHP while still being a bullet proof small block Chevy I will post some pictures of the "Z" and the "V" in the next couple of days

Cheers Dave

Hello there. I think the RCZ is one of the best looking cars I've seen. I think the TT is a 'fair' looking car, but nothing like as good as the RCZ.

I would have quite liked a Toyota GT86, and for a long, long, long time we were going to buy one. Then I remembered how good the RCZ looked when it was launched.

I've driven a GT86 and think the handling is exquisite, really wonderful to drive. But the RCZ is better looking. We drove an RCZ and found that for a front wheel drive car it handled far better than I expected and so was persuaded to go for the looks of the RCZ over the handling of the GT86. The fuel consumption is better on the RCZ too. The insurance costs less. The price is lower. The interior is better.

Yep, the RCZ won.
