New RCZ Owner - Noise after shutdown

Hi guys,

I bought an used 2011 RCZ THP200 in January and since 2 weeks ago he started to make a noise even after shutdown the car for aprox. 5/10 min. I didnt notice the sound before, pretty sure it wasnt there ... I made a video of it this morning and that was after a 10min ride ...

Otherwise im really loving the car although it had an ABS sensor replaced already since it was broken ... that in 2 months of owning and now this I really hope it isnt something big ... starting to worry about reliability ...

Can you isolate the area where it's coming from? The only thing that should run after key off is the fan or the electric coolant pump. It doesn't sound like the former, so i guess it could be the latter. You could try a fuse pull (fuse 21 on the engine bay fuse box) with the vehicle off to see if it's either of the two. You could also try disconnecting the pump, but it's a bit of a bastward to get to it as it involves removing some of the intake pipes that are in the way.

It's the fan cooling/oil pump for the turbo.

It will run until turbo is cool enough to cool on its own without causing any distortion or damage.

Think it keeps oil flowing to turbo to take heat away and fan to cool as well.

You could try spooling the turbo by letting the car run on tickover for a few minutes before turning it off. This is good practice anyway.

The oil pump does not run after key off. The electric coolant pump runs even with the engine on in certain rpm ranges. In any case, the noise is not normal.

Not sure what you mean by this... By idling the turbo does not spool, there is not enough load on the engine. Keying off with a spooled up turbo is not good for it as it's still spinning when the oil supply is cut off. You do however let it spool down , which is good practice. Even better is just driving relaxed a few miles before you reach your destination, then you don't really need to wait idling.

It isnt the fan so im really thinking it is the the pump ... almost certain

It's normal for the turbo to be cooled after running.
My RCZ-R does a similar noise even when run at 60 mph.

Got to Peugeot and they told me it is the noise of the electric pump that cool the turbo and that it is normal ...

You never know how sensitive the microphone was on the recording device. It sounds pretty normal to me. :greetings-wavingblue:
