New car detail with Gtechniq

Hello everyone.

Just took my box-fresh 200GT to have lots of OCD love from Lee at Bespoke Car Care in Shrewsbury. Had the full GTechniq new car detail including:
• Body coated with G|techniq C1 Crystal Lacquer
• Windscreen coated with G|techniq G1
• Alloys coated with G|techniq C5 3S nano rim coating

The dealers prep was poor, one of the worst Lee ever seen and the roof panel in particular was a nightmare, basically needing a 'corrective detail'. One of Lee's colleagues who saw the car couldn't believe it was only 4 days old. It's not an easy car anyway, no flat surfaces anywhere remember. Lee has warned me that the roof paint in particular is very soft, doubtless something that regulars on the care care form are aware of. In all they spent 12 man-hours on the car and were still not happy with some aspects (easily Lee is as OCD as RCZ1).

Roof After:

Shiny Dolphin:

I'll be taking the dolphin to Pugfest, by which time RCZ1 will doubtless give me grief for getting her muddy!

Thoroughly recommend Lee and the Bespoke crew  , you'll find them on the net at bespokecarcare.com.

Cheers
Astleyducks

It's looking great astleyducks

Just wait till it rains and you see the G1 on your windscreen in action, it's awesome

The C1 is also proven to minimise swirling and scratching, so your car will be looking good fr a long time to come.

The roof is very temperamental and mine needs some remedial work on it even though I'm very, very careful about touching it.

Enjoy the RCZ and see you at Pugfest

They will probably have machine polished it. It won't have been too aggressive polish or pad they used with the paint on the roof being so soft ( which is why it marks easily).

Hi All

Lee hear from Bespoke Car Care.

astleyducks told me about this forum so thought i would join up and post a few more pictures for you to see with, mods and astleys permission of course.

First lot of pictures show holograms marring and swriling in the paint this was all along it.

Before picture of the roof the dealer had even left some kind of tar glue residue in bottom right corner the roof took two hits to correct.

After pictures

The car certainly left looking a lot better than when it came in the paintwork is a touch soft on the rcz the roof especially there is some good guides RCZ1 has done on washing etc to minimize damage to your cars paint.
Was a pleasure meeting astleyducks a real top guy.

Regards
Lee

Depending on where you go and what treatments you have anywhere from £270 to £450 for new car protection make sure there will do a 1 stage machine polish for that as well price does change between wax or sealants.

Full corrections anywhere from £400 to £650 are the average depending where you go how bad the car is and what lsp you are having you might find cheaper does not mean better.

There is also enhancement details which are cheaper.

There is a lot of detailers around the country now make sure you research them first there’s around 7-8 I would let touch my own car so many starting up now and its important they can machine polish properly.

If you need any advice feel free to ask I can point you towards your nearest detailer.

Detailingworld is a good point of call for people interested in looking after there own cars.

Hi the roof was corrected with a 2 stage machine polish not the norm for a new car protection but it really was that bad could not leave it that way.

there are products on the market that could help improve your roof if you dont mind puting some elbow grease behind it lol

Well as jactac has put me off the idea of paint protection wrap, then maybe an investment in getting my pearl treated like astleyducks has had may be an alternative? Problem though.. who can you trust to do a good job and not wreck your car?

Ron there is a very good professional detailer based in York. His work is excellent. He used to work for Specialist Cars of Malton before going it alone. My husband bought a Porsche from their dealership and the work was excellent.

Thank you so very much RCZ1. What could be more valuable a recommendation from our Queen of detailing and one so local to me too. I will contact him and see what he can offer as nothing on his site quite fits the bill. As it will obviously be a brand new motor so looking for Gteching windows, claying, polishing, Wax or seal not sure what  the difference is, so seeking advice on that one

Couple more people for you to try aswell always good to speak to few different detailers to get a feel for them

http://www.mercurydetailing.com/?page_id=735
http://www.sportscarprotection.com/pric ... tml#gpm1_2

Think of it like this lots of people pay the dealer to apply supergard diamondbrite etc average price being around the £300 mark the valeters have around 1 hour to fully prep a new car detailer will spend normally up to 10 hours on your new car for not much more money using better safer products but of course there is better detailers out there always good to shop around look at there previous work etc.

Waxes will not last as long as Gtechniq C1, Nanolex, or cquartz, Cquartz offers the most marr and scratch resistance the RZC does have slightly soft paint so these new crystal coatings would offer more protection then a wax though some people do prefer the look of a wax just needs reapplying more offten.

As for gtechniq they are about to bring out an approved detailer scheme in next few weeks all approved detailers will have to offer same price and service it is a very comprehensive scheme offering many different levels of service and guarantees I don’t know which detailers have signed up and gone on the course yet as it is not cheap to be part of still not decided myself yet even though I have been invited.

As for protection wraps lots of different ones out there one make is very good quality and can be kept clear does not yellow etc with right looking after personally I would only ever use one across the front bumper not going up the bonnet but would help with them pesky stone chips as no wax or sealant will stop chips happening at 70mph.

any questions at all feel free to ask im totally unbiased and dont mind recomending other detailers or products.

Regards

Lee

You make some good points there about sealants v waxes. I've had nothing but sealants on my RCZ since I've had it ( apart from a coat of Zymol concours topped over it - just because I had to try it ;) ). Normally I've used waxes on my previous cars and I love the process of applying a wax but sealants do seem to offer more these days. Better durability and better cleaning abilities. I'm looking forward to trying the new Wolf 's body wrap sealant in the next few weeks. It's sheeting products look as good if not better than some higher end waxes which are renowned for their ability to sheet water.

Also you make a good point about paying so much money for Dealer Paint Protection to be applied, which due to the time restrictions they have is never going to be perfect by any means. Much better to pay for someone like yourself ( if you can't do it yourself or don't have the inclination), to prepare the car for you, to give it the best start in life.
