My new rcz problems already

I brought a 11 plate rcz 1.6 thp gt two days ago it was a private sale so no warranty :evil: engine light now on car runs fine so had it code read codes as follows P0691 fault in high speed control of main fan assembly p0693 main fan unit slow speed control fault p2603 turbo cooling coolant control short circuit to battery positive p0494 status of fan assembly in coherence has any body have any idea if all these are linked to a sensor or relay switch also on start up battery charge light on for a few seconds then goes out i have 12.75 volts at the battery then 13.85 when started any ideas would be gratefully accepted

Are there any actual issues with the car? Overheating, fan running all the time?
If not I'd stick a new battery on it, old/poor batteries can cause all sorts of faults with Peugeots. Plus it's cheaper than getting a garage or "specialist" to shotgun £800 of parts at the car which doesn't fix a thing.

I've had dead battery issues with at least 3 of my Peugeots. Spurious ABS faults, random climate control panel glitches, my 406 loved saying "Check brake fluid" until I put a new battery on it.

If you stick a new battery in there & get the faults cleared, see if they return. If the car is running fine as you say, I wouldn’t worry too much. Even water ingress into the boot lock has been known to throw up all kinds of electrical issues, but as far as I know, it’s usually actual faults rather than codes.

Battery is not a bad place to start.

Hi and welcome to the forum, shame your first post is about problems with your new car :thumbdown: RCZIain could be right, it’s surprising what problems a new battery sorts out on Peugeot’s hope it’s that easy for you, have you contacted the guy you bought it from to see if it’s something that has happened to him before? I know it’s slim that he may own up but worth a try. Another area to look at is the temp sensor it was a common problem on early Z’s but most should have been sorted by now.
Let us know how your get on, if you bought privately and you paid considerabley less than at a dealer then it may be worth a dealer diagnosing the problem for you and you will still have saved some cash :thumbup: and if you have bought a lemon you still have some consumer rights even if you did buy privately fit for purpose and all that. :beer:

Everything said above is right, battery rights etc... Just want to add I was thinking same as all above posts, definitely clear the faults put new battery on and recheck after a good drive, if they come back you could go down the consumer route.. Was it advertised as in good condition? this is a big key factor. Anyway hope the new battery does the trick, don't be a stranger to the forum please update as all the information is helpful for the next time.

Thanks for the advise will order a new battery and try that, the codes will not remove as they are permanent ? I haven't had chance to see if the cooling fan works or not so will check that when i do the battery i have read the fan relay switch can burn out and that the ECT sensor is often faulty so will also check that thanks again any more ideas gratefully accepted

It’s my understanding that you can re set (remove) the fault codes using an OBD reader & software. I don’t have one myself so I can’t advise further, but I’m sure there are others on here that have done this procedure.

Peugeot planet/Diagbox is the only reliable way of doing anything with a Peugeot.
Fault code reading/resetting, checking live data, vin coding.

Sorry for the slow up date so one new battery still the same also replaced the ECT as these seemed to be a common fault still the same i think i have a wiring problem as the battery light comes on every now and then only for a few seconds then goes out and the turbo cooling fan fuse keeps blowing so going to have a sparky have a look and see what he can find :thumbup: Any other ideas greatly accepted thanks

I have just recently found out through my local dealer that there is a possible issue with some turbo coolant pumps Peugeot know about this and if you let your Peugeot dealer run your registration number through their system yours maybe one of the cars potentially affected, if so they will update your ecu software and may have to fit a new pump all free of charge so worth a try.
