Hi All, Have been lucky enough to find the right RCZ at the right price, my journey to here began with a phone call from my local dealer in Stockton on tees at the begining of June. Anthony whom I have bought my last 3 cars from was keen for me to change my current vechile which is a Peugeot 3008 2.0L HDI Exclusive in Vapor Grey, he informed me that there were some great deals available and invited me down to discuss my options.
I had a bit of spare time a few days later so I called in to see what these wonderful deals were.
" Hi Jeff, great to see you, tea or coffee, take a seat" he said, "Im not sure Im ready for a change just yet as I really like the 3008 it suits my needs exactly" I told him, "not struck on the 508""I continued. "Right" he said lets go on the lot, we have 3 x13 reg 3008s on the lot." true to his word they did have 3 cars on the lot, all exactley the same colour as mine but a lesser spec. Anthony I said why would I want to pay another £9000 plus mine for a 13 reg and a worse spec? But I do like the look off that 63reg RCZ IN Moroccan Red which was priced at £19995, organise me a test drive for Saturday.
My good lady Sue accompanied me as she though I had lost the plot as I always buy practical cars, the RCZ was gleaming like a diamond when we arrived, we were welcomed by Anthony and his sales manager who was hovering like a preying manthus.
Look said Anthony, Mark has already knocked £1000 off as we know you are a bit of a barter, Jeff. We had the test drive, but I had to admit I was a bit dissapointed with the drive, the car seemed tired, looking around the car I notice at least 30 stone chips on the bonnet and kerb marks on 3 of the wheels, Sue chipped in the interior looked like a patchwork quilt and some of the stitching is coming out. Anthony said 99 percent of people who try an RCZ buy it, I asked for a price reduction, Anthony said its peugeot approved in excellant condition therefore the price was right. I said thanks but no thanks!
A couple of weeks later one of the lads at work told me there was an RCZ for sale at the garage up the road. I called in to view the Amber Red 61reg 2.0L HDI GT with 28900 miles on the clock, she was gorgeous in perfect condition and priced £14995, I spoke to Dave the salesman and tried to get the price down but he was having none of it so I left it.
I joined this forum in early July and was looking at a post about "Owned any other Peugeots" I spotted an RCZ which looked familiar, the penny dropped it was the car for sale just up the road. The previous owner was Donna from Aberdeen, I messaged her to let her know where her car was and that I was interested in buying it, Donna was good enough to give me Ambers full history, fate had took a hand I was destined to have that car. In early August I called into the garage with Sue who thought that Amber was a new car as she looked that good, Dave was soon across to see us and suggested a test drive. I said if he cant get the price right it would be a waste of time having the test drive, he asked what my valuation was I said £13500. God loves a trier Dave replied but I'll ask. In a few weeks time i said, people will be buying 4x4 ready for winter not sports cars, i'm just trying to move the price forward a month. A week later I paid £13550 for Amber and took her home on 13th August. Many thanks to Donna who did a great job of looking after her when she was her owner, she will be a hard act to follow but I will do my best.
Final word goes to Anthony who I will be visiting next week as Amber is due her 1st M.O.T. He said 99 percent of people who drive an RCZ buy one, he was right, but not off him unfortunately.
