So I'm a little bit pissed off.
Car went in for its 36k mile service ( number 7 in the book) and an MOT (car is a 2015)
The garage failed it for having lights too high ( pretty sure they are adjustable and just had to turn the knob) and they had to change one of the windscreen wipers , both things they should have picked up when servicing it but chose to do the mot first.
No advisories but will forever be shown on the MOT web check page as a fail.
Perhaps I'm just being picky ☹️

Yes I think That it it was In for a service that all the things for a mot would have been made as pre mot check then all what was required carried out then mot carried out even if where it was serviced did not do mot's and took the car to another garage...

You're lucky when a garage carries out a service doing what they should be checking and changing. Headlamp alignment won't be part of a service.

Simple things like windscreen wipers are down to the driver.

Pre MOT checks should be done by the owner not the garage they will only test & advise what they won't do is put right everything wrong unless you tell them to I've seen cars in garages with cv boots hanging off exhausts blowing wipers like thin string headlight bulbs out etc people forget MOT stations also make money on fixing MOT failures if repairs are authorized after failure

that would have pissed me off as well. drop them an email you will be taking your business elsewhere and I'm sure they might give u a free service.

It's not a garage's job to check simple things like windscreen wipers. The driver should be picking up on things like that. No garage is going to check headlamp alignment prior to an MOT.

Expecting a garage to offer a free service due to the above is unjust. The garage hasn't done anything wrong.

That's fair enough but I personally would take my business elsewhere. too many garages try and suck as much cash from us petrol heads as they can. I'm quite lucky my friend used to be an m o t tester so he checks my car before it goes in. Mines never fails😂

Doesn't matter where you take it a MOT station does MOT's Plain & simple & as Every garage has to be a lot stricter due to Live data recording within the DVLA system they dare not take any chances on being prosecuted or losing their license so if they find your motor is out of compliance its a fail that's the way of the world we live in today

Don't worry I had to point out the MOT failure to the testing station after the Peugeot Tech found a snapped spring as I needed a fail, to fund the Warranty replacements.

Far better getting the service done first by someone u know so they can point out any potential fails
