£490 a year for the wifes car!!! I dont think stop start contribute to the emissions? As it can be turned off it i think its more for the mpg figures.
£20 puts it into band B which is 101 to 110 co2's , there are alot of cars out there in this band without stop start.
I guess any interesting Peugeot cars for the future wont reach production?? The 308 R for example.
I cant understand the logic as you see an awful lot of RCZ's on the road these days so it got people buying the coupe who wouldn't normally but a Peugeot. Will they now buy another model in the range? I think not?
So around 7 years before its fazed out, do you think they will facelift again as there wont be a new model thats for sure.

I personally think it's a sad day that the RCZ will ceased to be made in the future. After all the RCZ brought many customers to Peugeot that in all probability would never have considered buying a Peugeot before. Ok so they aren't sold in large numbers but that makes them exclusive and I think the majority of us like that.

I do believe the RCZ has done a lot for Peugeot. In the same way the TT revigorated Audi who were very much in the doldrums before the TT was born. The RCZ got people interested in Peugeot again. It's style and flair opposed to same old same old German design that we see day in day out on the roads of the UK. Yes you will always get those badge snobs who can't see past anything German (I know a few of those) but I don't like to follow the crowd. I'm an individual and like things which are different and not the "norm". The RCZ fills that spot for me and the car will always always have a special place in my heart. Yes I did buy it with my heart and yes it was the best decision I made.

I do hope in time that Peugeot will recreate the RCZ and make it even even better than it is now. I look forward to that day ......!
Well now we can have that parade of rczs in to the sunset i suppose. But what its going to do in affecting pubs in yorkshire, heaven knows.

Personally I DON'T think you do see many RCZ's on the road. You only see them because you have one - therefore you notice any one that drives past you.
It was the same with my last car, and the car before that, etc..........
I don't have a TT, yet I do notice then - coz THEY are a'plenty. It's one of the reason I did not buy the TT.

WRT your second point - no I think this is the end for the RCZ.
As the BB has pointed out we have been lucky to get a concept car that has escaped from the design studio relatively unscathed. But its based on an early iteration of the 308.
It will not get a facelift - simples.
I can't see anything escaping unscathed from the Pug Design studio unscathed while the money guys are pulling the purse strings a'while unfortunately.
Therefore the next escapee, should it break free, will arrive in a different form, but don't hold you're breath.

So they are phasing out the RCZ sometime in the next 7 years?

Does that really matter though...? Will it make our cars less cool somehow? Will it make them any less fun to own and drive because people won't be able to buy a new one from a main dealer?

Of course not - if anything it will make the RCZ even more unique and desirable for many years to come!

As a facelift I would like to see Peugeot do a hybrid model, since they have the technology already in use with other models, but one where instead of smaller engine, stay with the same size engines and use the extra power from the electric motors to make this a true sports model.
I do like the handleless doors as well, makes it look more clean/streamlined!

Stop/start technology is not anything I'm interested in as the starter motors have not been improved in anyway, in that they are using the same motors.

Say that a starter motor has 500,000 starts in it's lifetime then a vehicle without stop/start would use this over a period of time lets say 10 years.
If a vehicle has stop/start technology and lets say everytime that vehicle was driven it used the stop/start technology once in it's journey then it's lifetime would be half that of the vehicle without stop/start technology.

For me they are just getting existing equipment to fail sooner.
Figures are for illustration only.

Agreed.
In terms of timing, I'd imagine its going to be one of the first to go though, being probably the most niche/low-volume/low-overall-profitability

But yes, more unique - longer term more desirable.
Marry a pretty car with good dynamics and relatively low volumes, and as has been said = future classic.

Personally it bothers me not that they are stopping production after (I assume) the limited run contract with Magna Steyr comes to an end.

I have one - and thinking of keeping it a while yet.

Enjoy

How can more than 100% of the profit come from 95% of the cars?

You cant get more than 100% of the profit.

It probably got lost in translation.
The 5% they cut will have been sold at a loss.
I blame the THP problems for that.
Too bad. The RCZ has such a nice body.
But on the other hand, it won't take long for my car to become a classic!

Does it really matter of course not , just feel that Peugeot have given us what they can do and thinking outside the box only too get scared and revert back to inside the box. They could have really developed it if they had wanted too.
I wouldn't want a job a job designing future Peugeot cars as whats the point? Seems like they don't want to express themselves anymore.

I think Peugeot are sort of working against themselves on this model cutting thing too.

Peugeot Sport as a brand has been making major leaps forward in making more interesting cars these past few years, and now they just wanna shut them down just as they are starting to get a foothold in the business?

If they do decide to do the 308 HYbrid then fine, it's a good continuing step. But other than that.... :eusa-think:

Interestingly, Citroen (also PSA) did at some point decide to position DS as a sporty brand, but then again that brand still focuses on volume models and they don't have some nice coupe either.
