Hi all,
I have been thinking of getting a RCZ for a while now but as I have a family its not been possible until now, I have been on ebay and auto trader looking at all the many choices, I have a 3008 at minute which has been a great family car, I am just not sure which model to go for, I want the GT, but diesel or petrol?? the car will be used as my every day to commute around 40 miles a day. Also, what are they like to live with ie any problems to look out for.

Welcome Nick22' :text-welcomewave:

I have a 2.0 GT Hdi. My daily commute is also about 40 miles.
My personal choice was of course diesel. No real problems for me,(apart from a tempreture sensor which was fixed today)
You'll get full details of any problems from the knowledgeable and very friendly people on this forum.
Check out other posts to get specific information. There loads on here.
I've found if you ask a question you'll get the answer here.
I'd also recommend a blog by RCZ1. Called RCZ and Me. Very informative about living with a RCZ.

Thanks guys
I am having a look at a 12 plate Petrol one Sunday, little out of my price range really but thought I could at least try, prob is I know I will want it lol. Ps will have to try a diesel one to, the 3008 I have at mo is 2lt and to be fair its not slow so if its the same engine it would be nippy.

Any RCZ is going to be quicker than your 3008 so don't worry about that.

Petrol and Diesel versions are both great engines but for me personally I would never choose such an amazing sports coupe as the RCZ then have it as a diesel  ...BUT a lot of people do so it's personal choice as ever.

lol at the time 3008 was the choice of the wife, but to be fair not a bad family car, I do think that having a great looking car as the RCZ would sound that much better being petrol but it is about the mpg also.

The RCZ looks are the same petrol or diesel. So you're getting the same amazing, unique head turning style.
BUT if your looking at mpg as well, then look no further. Diesel.....
Yes your right 2retro. It's all down to personal choice.

you could always get it chipped, if it's performance and economy, that you are after, should you feel that diesel is 'dirty'...

Hi all, just to say I went and tried my first RCZ yesterday, and I must say I really did like it, only trouble was the garage just wouldn't give me a good deal on a trade in, and to be honest I don't think I would have bought it from them anyway, I had spoken to the sales person on the Thursday to say I would be popping over to have a look at the car and also try it, my wife and I got there and the car was out the front ready, it was covered in dust which I thought maybe at least it would have been prepped and washed being black it would have looked so much better, I got keys and opened it up and again wasn't that clean inside, after having a good look round the car we set off for our test drive, the model was the Hdi GT, I was very impressed with the car and got back to try and sort out a deal, but is wasn't to be...

I am now thinking about petrol version as there seem to be more out there and are a little cheaper, I'm just not sure as there seems to be more problems than the HDi model, any thoughts ? I am going to be using the car every day for work so I really want it to be reliable.

To generalise, it appears that the Mk2 or Phase2 seems to be a little more reliable. Of course it may simply be that they are obviously newer than the Mk or Phase 1. Or it might be that Peugeot realised there were a few "recurring" problems with the Z and sorted them for the facelift model.
Whichever you go for, any problems are out weighed by this fantastic car. :auto-car: :text-welcomewave:

Thanks DKZ5745, I think it will prob be Mk1 as Mk2 just that little bit out of my price, My wife has said about a TT but for me there is nothing out there apart from the RCZ that I really like, it is different to anything else and has the looks of a little super car, well to me anyway  I have a few friends who do have the odd super car ie Porshe Gt3, R8 and Ferrari 360 which I've been lucky enough to drive most of them and if the RCZ was to be parked next to them it wouldn't look out of place, but again looking at all these problems and Peugoet not being very helpful when it comes to sorting them is a little off putting, I know very well that the TT is fairly safe bet.
I have in the past had bikes and didnt take the safe route when I bought a Ducati and had heard all the bad things but in 6 years of ownership I didn't have a problem so I'm not put off easily..
