Life before RCZ

Mine was the R3 Version of the RX8, loved it but it was too thirsty and expensive to run for what it was.

Do miss the power off the start a bit though but love the looks of the RCZ.

I see the RCZ as a "sheep in Wolves clothing" it looks more powerful and more expensive than it is

406 coupe, 3 litre V6 auto with red leather interior.... like a tart's boudoir! I loved that car and the RCZ has very similar controls so felt quickly at home in my new toy.

TT 2.0D - lovely car, great fuel consumption, low tax.
Unfortunately they're 10 to the penny these days.

Don't suppose I'll see another Asphalt for a loooong time!!

We've had several 407s and absolutely loved them! (Although one came to an unfortunate end if you read the'Gap insurance' post.) It was a great car for travelling the long distances I do to work, and the huge boot was fab for holidays. We have a 207 now as a second car, for nipping about and also for our 19 yr old. But the rcz is a pricey way of getting to work, and with the girls getting older (Kate's 29, has had her own insurance in England for years) we could prob insure them for a 407 here in NI. We could be tempted back to a second-hand 407 for me to do the motorway and just keep the rcz for my poor husband (who never gets a look at it)to enjoy! Sadly we lost our only son in tragic circumstances 2 years ago and haven't quite recovered enough from that enough to re-jig insurance - he was quite heavily weighted onto insurance policies naturally as a young man in NI. Not sure we've worked that one out yet.

Have been driving a Renault Espace 3.5 v6 for the last 5 years. Actually has more horse power (250) than my RCZ :eusa-think:

The Espace is now used in the weekend and by my wife, the RCZ is exclusively for work (because of Dutch tax rules). Although it has occasionally doubled as the family car with all four kids in the back seats

I had a 106 - which I gave to my daughter when I had a year out in Spain - it got written off after an accident.
Came back from Spain and got a 307 which I loved.
Now have the RCZ - but it's only ME driving it and it gets driven every day.
I carry my grandchildren (at a squeeze) - 1 in the back and 1 in the front. And if I want to go out with my daughter and the kids we go in her 308 cc.
We are both Peugeot lovers - don't think there is another make I would want to drive

Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster

I bought it from new, put 50,000 miles on it and was frankly bored

I changed because I wanted something fun to drive and Astons are too big and heavy for that

The RCZ is as well built, likely to be more reliable (touch wood), considerably cheaper to own and run, gets me from A to B in the same time and looks just as good. Its also got way more toys - I went for the full media and lights packages

It doesn't say Aston Martin on the badge, but I've learnt that that difference is only important to brand snobs. Been there, done that.

All things considered, the RCZ, in my opinion and experience, is the better all round car

sorry you had a bad AML experience was it the 4.3 litre 380 bhp roadster you had as the 4.7 litre 420 bhp was the one to have :eusa-think: if so it was under powered heavy so heavy but even so how can you compare a fancy shell on a peugeot 308 to a aston not matter the model sorry to be so honest but the rcz is is as slow as wknd in the cells

I, for one, thank you for your honesty and yes there are a lot of badge snobs around but it's pleasing to hear that those that have owned such models, not those that just aspire, can appreciate and enjoy the " lesser" models.:)

I didn't have a bad experience. After owning one I now know that no car is worth that sort of money. Cars in that price bracket are not that much better than cars of £25k

Granted, the Aston was quicker in both acceleration and top end.

But how often do you really give a car 'full beans'? I think in 3 years of Aston ownership I only went above 120 a dozen times.

And how often do you need startling acceleration? Prior to the Aston I had a 240Cup Exige - 0-60 in under 4 seconds. But, even with a car of that sort of performance, you don't get anywhere on public roads that much quicker. Sure you can out accelerate and have a faster top end. But if my skill limit on a given road is say 80 mile an hour, I can do that in most any car. I may accelerate to 80 a few seconds quicker in an Aston or Lotus but if my ability on that road is limiting me to 80, then no matter what I'm driving I wont exceed 80.

What finally convinced me was that I decided to stop using the Aston as my daily car and I used an old shed of a 1.2 Clio.

When I checked my average speed for my daily 162 mile round trip commute which car do you think showed the higher average mph? - the Clio by 3 mph

In short, do you want to pay £100k plus for a car that has ability beyond the average driver and that couldn't even be exploited by a professional driver anywhere but on a track?

Or, the other way to look at is, would you prefer an Aston Roadster or a fully specced RCZ and £80k?

As I said, been there, done that and seen the light. And the light was telling me I owned an Aston out of vanity.

Before rcz, I was driving a Toyota wish, a family car. The a Peugeot 407 year 2011, got into the pug poison and checked the rcz out. Spent less than a month before my dream becomes reality.

I am clearly not in your income bracket nor do I have the aspiration to be. Your comments here, read so true to me and so I find your honesty in posting them refreshing. I wish you continued enjoyment of your RCZ and hope that you can answer your piers comments on your car choice with the same refreshing honesty as you have displayed on this forum

Been through a few cars in the last few of years, some daily drivers, some more weekend fun machines. Had a couple of Leon 20VT's, one a Cupra, one a standard 180 both fun to drive but dreary dull inside. Sandwiched in the middle I had a Merc Sports Coupe, beautiful car, not so cheap to run though  (I do 30,000 miles a year). Then I had two Civics, the first one I bought as simple transport, purely a financial decision, no heart involved. Bought it a year old and loved it. The second, a Type S-GT I bought brand new because I wanted a better specced nicer looking version of the Civic. Hated it. It creaked, rattled and squeaked, the paintwork was awful and I got fed up with seeing them everywhere. That was the last one before the RCZ.

As non daily drivers, I also had a Westfield for about 11 years which was much fun and frankly very scary. I changed that last year for a Smart Roadster which is a really fun and totally un-scary little motor. Looking back through the list, there are a lot of cars with odd shaped bottoms. Glad I've finally broken that habit with such a fine looking (and still relatively rare) car.

My last car was a BMW 320 CI M Sport coupe, hadit for over 7 years, all I am saying is I enjoy my RCZ more. To be fair there is a diference between driving a 156 and a 200 BPH.

Jassy, can you please be a bit more respectful to members. It's not the first time today that you been rude. If you haven't got anything nice to say then please refrain from posting. I think an apology may be in order don't you? It's really not necessary!
