Life after my coolant pump replacement

So an update to my problem - my coolant pump was replaced at a cost of £480.

Yesterday I had the first opportunity to go above 50mph sine collection and yes - you've guessed it - 'engine failure - repair needed' as I reached approx. 72-75mph and went into limp mode.

I drove to the garage and today have been given this information.

The new fault is completely different to the new fault.

The coolant turbo did need replacing.

Replacing the coolant turbo threw up the new fault!!!

SO NOW

the thermostat housing needs replacing £302.88

then they know is another fault - but they can't determine that fault under the thermostat housing is fixed

then there will need to be more diagnostics - four hours work - so the thermostat housing + labour + diagnostics will be £686.88

THEN
They will be able to determine the next fault

WHICH

worse case scenario will be the controlled solenoid and boost sensor all for the gran possible total of £842.60 with no apparent guarantee that everything will then be ok

This on a 2010 RCZ that I have had from new - has done 24000 miles and has a full service history.

I know nothing at all about cars so all advice and thoughts and recommendations would be really welcome at this point.

Get in touch with Peugeot UK HQ (024 7688 4000) speak to someone who is a manager and see if they are willing to contribute towards it as you have been a loyal customer.
Tell them that you have one of the launch editions.
Tell them that you think the dealership are guessing what is wrong and hoping it will fix the faults at your cost.
The worst they can say is no!

Hi, sorry to hear your still having problems but what amazes me the most and why I think you should look for a deferent dealer is that they let you take the car away without even doing a test drive first to make sure your car was repaired the fault sorted and your car was safe to drive totally unprofessional!!! As I've said before these technicians are just PC's (Part Changers) they haven't a clue what's wrong they'll just change parts until they drop on the right one!
I'd be giving your dealer some right ear bashing for letting you take the car away without them testing it first.

Ok - I have spoken to Coventry Headquarters a pleasant lady listened and took notes. She will refer to a customer services manager. I have a case number. I will hear back by next Wednesday. Watch this space.

Hi, they said they had tested it!!

Well if they road tested your car they obviously didn't drive it up to 72mph a nice get out for them due to the speed limit! :crazy:

I truly sympathise with you. I also have a 2010 RCZ - 25,000 miles. I see you as being ripped off

and you should raise the roof on this issue with Peugeot regarding those that have

fed you with such bad service, pending robbery and utter drivel.

So - today's update - I have just collected my car - no warning light as yet!!

Having spoken to customer services they have paid 50% of the most recent repair cost (I have been told the dealership have done all of the above repairs - although wasn't actually given any paperwork to prove it)so about £405 each.

When I asked about a contribution to the first repair they said that as I had already paid they couldn't refund but would give me a free service .

So - what do people think? - It's certainly better than nothing

Hi, great news that you've hopefully sorted the problem, have you taken it for a high speed test yet?
I think you've done well to get anything from Peugeot though I think the repair costs sound so high I think you've probably paid for the full repair anyway! I don't know where these dealers get there prices from. :eusa-think:

well I obviously haven't taken it up to 96mph so far and all might have been well!! Actually running much much better than it has been for a long time.

Back again. Have today swapped cars over and am back in rcz. It's barely been driven since the last fiasco was sorted. Now I have no heater/ or ac/fan the light is on for the a/c but nothing is happening.

Any thoughts? Could this be related to the previous issues?

Could be an airlock since coolant pump replacement.
Have you checked fuses?

I haven't. Not sure I'd know how. Does an air lock clear itself?

Might need bleeding.
Fuses listed in the manual p182 I think

You say the light is on for the a/c but nothing is happening. Is the fan actually blowing at all? If not it sounds more electrical than the coolant system.
As Chris says, check the fuses - definitely the cheapest fix if that's what it turns out to be. :eusa-think:

yep all lights are on - but no fan at all

I'll have a look for fuse
