Keeping the RCZ clean in this weather

Hi all
just wondering how often you wash your car in this weather.
I've not been able to get out and wash mine for over 3 weeks due to it continuously raining when I'm off work and have the time to wash it.
It's absolutely filthy at the moment.
I've even thought about washing it in the rain but I think my neighbours will think I'm potty lol

Who cares what your neighbours think ;)

I was mine when I can, its only driven to and from work this time of year so no one really sees it and its just going to get dirty again.

Shame on anyone who does'ent keep their RCZ clean.I clean mine at least once every 3 days when I'm not using it.Don't go out in the rain.If caught in a shower it gets wiped down as soon as I reach home.I get just as much pleasure cleaning as I do driving it.Due to a recent knee opp.I have purchased a kneeling pad so I can clean underneath. My sister thinks I'm nuts.Roll on next Spring when I will use the car a lot more in and around the Lake District in the (sunshine?)Still plans for a regular RCZ meet starting early next year.Great car.Martin

Automatic Car Wash for me everytime in the Winter.

Sit there in the nice and warm while everything happens around you.

Nice bit of spray wax on at the end and then drive off.

Perfect

How much prep do you do before applying this dude?
Time is precious for me, and while I too don't want to spend all my time washing, happy to invest a little time upfront and coat my beast, and like you save the level of washing afterwards.
Never done any detailing on previous cars and don't want to have to buy a whole load more paraphernalia (a new snow lance I got recently was going overboard a little compared to what I have done with prev cars :- sponge + soapy water, and a chammy).

Have a look at this site http://gen-3glasscoat.com/g3-glasscoat-videos.
You have to get Paintseal to apply it, no DIY well not the proper stuff
No need to spend hours waxing and polishing -just a quick wash over and dry and it looks awesome.

You see them lining up especially on a Sunday, BMW's Merc's etc . they spend all that money and can't be arsed to wash them. The particular wash I'm thinking of had a small J.C.B type machine through it about 2 weeks ago, I was amazed it went through but it did. This was on a Friday afternoon, come Sunday they were all waiting to get "done"
How much mud and crud would have been in those brushes? I work building sites and I always take off my boots before getting in my van, why? Because there shit high in mud caused by the JCB leaving it's trail everywhere.

:eusa-think:

That's exactly what they are doing

You have to prioritise what is important to you in life:

Keeping your car regularly nice and clean and topped up with wax in minutes, thus allowing time for
family / chores / friends / insert your own entry here

OR

spending time on your own for 2 - 3 hours washing / polishing something that's going to get dirty again in hours.
Meantime, your family are all staring at you out of the window wondering why they aren't going off and having fun like everyone else.

Easy one for me, although as always, you pays your money and you takes your choice.

Enjoy - whichever method you choose.

I can see your point.
I cleaned my RCZ today but I know that by Monday if it rains again, living where I live country lanes etc that it will probably be back to how it was before I started.
I know it takes a lot of time an effort to wash the car and clean it to a decent standard so during the winter I will just wash and go and during the summer I will get up and give it a really good clean and polish while everyone's in bed.
Luckily for me I don't need a lot of sleep :sleeping-yellow:

When it comes to the timesaving I'm with you mate, hence my questions above.
In my case I don't mind spending some time once, if it saves time later. So glasscoat fits the bill for me. One time effort and the occasional jetwash now and then, although the response above for TAC implies that G3 glasscoat application is not DIY which is a pity.
One thing I will not do to save time is to resort to car washes. Heard of too many horror stories. But each to their own.

I drive mine on average 300 -400 miles most weeks with work and I find as long as I find time to take am hour out of my life on Sunday to wash the Z even with a mundane turtle wax wash and polish potion it stays for most part in head turning form
I do sometimes take 20 minutes out to wash the wheels mid week it they are look grubby but also appreciate that I have the advantage of working from home if I'm not travelling with work so I can take time out over lunch to sort the wheels not a luxury everyone has

I do work a bit harder over the summer months to keep it very clean so find it easier to give it a "lick and a promise" over the winter but then I also have to clean the Vette through the summer months where as at this time of year she is sitting under her cover with a SORN on her waiting for the spring!
